this is from my Hybrid manual:

Passive Exhalation Port Flow

for my Hybrid purchaused Fall 2006. I beleive I have the old one.

5 cm approx 30 cm
10 cm approx 48
15cm approx 60

I'm sure I have the new Adaptive Flow Hybrid because my manual says that the vent flow rate is approx 36 liters/minute at 10 cm and approx 45 liters/minute at 15 cm. So, it is 25% lower than the old version.

Well, looks like I have the old one, then. My Hybrid manual has a graph on the front and it looks like 10 cm is around 50 L/M. (Hard to tell what it is exactly on this graph.) I'm getting good results with it, I just like to know these things!!

Did I get the new Hybrid?

Post by sleepytom » Wed Apr 18, 2007 8:25 pm

Hi:
Just received my Hybrid from cpap.com, and the front page of the manual says "the deadspace associated with this mask is less than 125 cm."
below the graph.

The headgear is black on the outside and gray on the inside. I can't tell if the exhalation ports are smaller than, well, than the larger ones.

And I'm a little worried because my setting is only at "6" -- is that enough for this particular mask?

Thanks for any help,
Tom

Either way, you got a better mask than anything out there.
Jaba, are you saying that the "new shell" is not as good as the "old shell"?

So if I ordered one today and got a new one, it would be different (and inferior) to Nathan's? In what ways?

Thanks!

On your manual, what's the number just above the stamped lot number? Mine says 05080 Rev B. My graph shows ~60 at 15.

Blarg...
My manual says exactly what yours does. The graph also shows 60 at 15.

Does that mean I have the new one or the old one?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

I think you have an old one. 60l/m at 15cm, sounds like the higher pressure of the older model.

Nathan wrote that his manual say 45 l/m at 15cm which I think is the newer one.

blarg, my manual says 05080 Rev A. This could be refering to the manual and not the mask.

The model number (found on the box) on the older one is:HYB500, there is a 05082 Rev A on the box. (I wonder what revision if any they will write down for the new head gear.)

Nathan what model number does yours say?

I don't think most users will notice any difference between the old shell and new shell unless you have a very high titrated pressure (in which case the Hybrid manufacturer claims that the new Adaptive Flow shell works better).

My manual says 05080 Rev C.

I think the old shell ports have issues with the ResMed APAP algorithm too ... but what do I know?

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

hybrid

Mind if I jump in here? I no longer have insurance & I'm needing a new mask. I like the full face masks but have a problem with leaking especially around the eyes. The Hybrid looks like a dream mask! Since places do not accept returns once the package is open, I need to do my homework. Does anyone here have a pressure of 16 or higher? If so. will this mask work better than the older masks? In order for the older ones not to blow off my face I have to tighten them so tight that I get marks on the back of my neck & sides of my face from the headgear & the whole edge of the mask itself leaves indentations on my face.
Thanks for any input

Just got my new Hybrid yesterday. I have to say, I think I like it. Made a bad assumption though, it came put together, with the two other sizes of mouth and nasal items neatly sealed in their bags. The mouth piece in place was "Large" so I assumed the nasal was too. Wrong.

After spending 90 minutes trying to get a seal on the right nare (left one never leaked) I got everything together and went to the bathroom to examine things. Medium nasal pillows were on. Switched out to Large, and things were going good. Except, sometime before I woke, one of the straps came undone. I showed a 133 L/min leak.

I'm assuming (again) that the high leak rate is due to the high rate of leaks that I had.

Anyway, found it quite comfortable (can one use the word comfortable on a cpap forum?). Soft contact with skin, and having facial hair, was pleased with seal while straps were connected as directed. Only complaint, is that the air flow seems to blow directly at my lips, has anyone else noticed this?

How are you all finding your leak rate?

I got the new headgear included in my box. Apparently Rev B is the new headgear.

This is annoying. I'm evaluating a Hybrid for my RT and I based on the vent flow graph on my manual, I have the old shell. I got it two weeks ago and the RT said he had just gotten it from the Teleflex rep. A Teleflex business card had been dropped on the floor in the consult room, so I figure the RT was being truthful.

I've been struggling with weird leak rates and my husband says the Hybrid is noisy - it bothers him.

Questions:

If you have the new shell is it reasonably quiet? I don't know if anyone has the old shell and the new shell to compare, but it would be nice to know if the new shell is quieter.

Has anyone with the old shell been able to get a new shell? I know Hybrid provided new headgear to people who called and asked for it. What about the shell?
