Mirage Liberty Full Face CPAP Mask with Nasal Pillows
Mirage Liberty Full Face CPAP Mask with Nasal Pillows
Hi All,
I have just joined the Hosehead family. I am interested in the Mirage Liberty ffm with nasal pillows. I currently use swift II however, have a tendency to mouth breathe even with chin strap. Can't do tape yet, really kind of freaks me out to have tape over my mouth. I am wondering what people think of the Mirage liberty? I think it might solve my problem of mouth breathing but don't know. I like the Swift but am always looking for the perfect mask. Since my insurance only covers a mask every 6 months I am out of luck for now unless I buy on my own. So, what do you all think about the liberty mirage with n/p?

I forgot to add that I am mostly a side sleeper also. Sorry for the double post, new this forum thing and I don't know how to get the message back for editing once it's out there.
If you like your Swift, you will probably like the Liberty. That is, if you find the proper size for the mouth cushion.
The nasal part of the Liberty is very similar to the nasal pillows on the Swift. I think they are even the same size for size. I like the Liberty, I have one and have used it several nights. It is my standby for allergy ridden and nights I am not able to breathe thru my nose.
I have been very fortunate that I have not had one of those nights yet. But when I do, because it is an eventuality, I am ready.
I am a side sleeper too, the Liberty has a lower 'profile' than the hybrid, it is closer to your face and therefore, better for side sleeping.

I got started on CPAP on 09/22/07. I checked with DME and they said the insurance will replace mask every 6 months. I think I will wait until 6 months and let ins buy the next one. I like the Swift and actually have gotten pretty good rest with it. Would just like to try the liberty and see what it's like. Thanks for the ideas, will keep looking for the ever illusive perfect mask!
I'm new (two weeks) and started with the Liberty FF. I couldn't handle the blowing up the nose. It also bothered my upper lip area (gums). I now have the Mirage Ultra. But I'm a newby and I don't really like either mask, but I thought I'd let you know what I thought. I did like the fact you could wear glasses and not see double through that forehead brace. If you already use those pillows that part probably would be the same.
I have the Liberty mask, about two months now. For me the Liberty serves two functions, one as a full face mask and two, as a training mask to stop mouth leaking and snoring. For years I had chronic sinus congestion that caused me to breath through my mouth. I tried full face mask and could not stand them, so I had nasal surgery two years ago and now can breath through my nose but the mouth breathing continued no matter what type mask I tried. The Liberty worked good for me but still would breath through my mouth into the mask, so I modified the mask, using Saran wrap on the mouth cushion to train myself to breath through my nose and it worked. Now I have two mask in one, a full face mask when needed and a nasal pillows mask when modified with the Saran wrap, it works both ways for me. I use the large Liberty and the medium pillows and I don't have any problems with sleeping on my side. I now use a Respironics OptiLife nasal pillows mask with great results, thanks to the Liberty for training me to stop mouth breathing.

Which Liberty Mask Size?
I wear a medium in the swift II very comfortably.
Using the cpap.com measuring guide for a ultra mirage ff,
I would wear a medium standard for that.
Apparently, there are only large and small for liberty.
What's better for me - large or small in the liberty?

Somewhere I read that the large is designed more commonly for men and the small for women. I would not use that as the gospel though. Is there some way you can get the masks and try them on and not have to buy one? When I had my titration study they let me try several on and I chose the Swift II. They didn't have any of the Liberty.
