A PILLOW FOR MY HEAD

Post by Kharris » Fri Oct 26, 2007 7:37 am

I am trying to find a pillow. I'm a side sleeper, with a comfort/select
mask. I have been sleeping with the mask hanging off the pillow edge.
I have a plain foam filled pillow.
What works best for you, especially while traveling. We are cruising next
year. memory foam, neck pillows, any suggestions?

Hi,

I'm using the Countour multi-mask sleep aid pillow

It's smallish and I just took it with me on a weekend trip with no problems. I purchased mine from Contour Living but it's also available on Amazon. It's not perfect but my mask doesn't get shoved around with it.

You will probably get a lot of different answers as we are all different. I use a king size memory foam pillow I purchased at a local outlet store. It doesn't have any cutouts for the mask but I have found I sleep just fine with the Fisher and Paykel full face mask.

The two pillows this toss 'n turn side sleeper uses are:

PAPillow (the double edge.)

Shapeable pillow from Target.

I use the PAPillow by far most of the time. I occasionally switch to the Shapeable just for change.

I am a shapeable pillow person. I've been using it for a year now and love it. Congrats on your cruise. BTW the shapeable pillow fits well in my luggage. I will be sailing on Nov. 23. If you need hints about sailing with cpap, I will be glad to share some with you.

My wife and I have a Disney timeshare. We have used the points from it
to travel on the Disney cruise line. The food is amazing, the shows are
better than in park shows, its a great way to travel.

I HAVE BEEN USING A 10 INCH BED WEDGE FOR 2 MONTHS. I WAS ALSO A SIDE SLEEPER BUT FOUND THIS WEDGE VERY COMFORTABLE AND HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SLEEP ON MY BACK FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE. WEDGES CAN BE PURCHASED AT A DME STORE OR WALMART. THEY CAN BE FOLDED AND CHECKED THROUGH BAGGAGE AS "MEDICAL EQUIPMENT" WITH NO WEIGHT OR SIZE PENALTIES

I've been using the Papillow for over a year now. I Love this pillow. I even travel with it! I tried the shapable pillow from Target and it didn't work for me.

The problem with "shapable" pillows is that they also "unshape" if you move around much. The papillow sold by the host holds its shape all night, you don't have to wake up to "fix it".

I use a "slippery down" pillow from Meijer. I think it cost about $25 but not sure anymore. It's a synthetic down. I love this pillow. I tried the shapeable pillow which did unshape somewhat, but the slippery down doesn't unshape as much.

I also tried the papillow, but it was way too thick for me and caused neck and the worst tmj problems I've ever had. We really all are different! I use a very thin pillow

funny this subject would come up so recently again, as i was just coming in here to tell you all about the pillow I found...

It is from Bed, Bath & Beyond, and it is their brand-- therapedic memory foam, u-shaped neck pillow.

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product ... 6582&RN=35

I have been searching for the perfect pillow for side sleeping with CPAP, and I think I have found it!! I just bought one yesterday, and it gave me the ultimate comfort in sleeping with a cpap mask. It is the perfect width to let your head relax on the side, and allow your mask to hangover without getting bumped and knocked around. It is about 1 1/2 inches high, so it can easily rest on top of your favorite pillow without then being so high that it is uncomfortable, and gives just the right amount of height to keep your mask from getting bumped around.

Right now I am using the Mirage Liberty mask...but I also tried it with my Quattro, and my Activa just so I could give you a report, and all three masks cleared the edge of the pillow and stayed put while I was sleeping on my side.

I also own the papillow, and I found it to be too high, and too hard to sleep with comfortably on my side, plus for me, it did not allow my mask to clear the edge of the pillow.

I hope this helps with your search for the perfect pillow. If you live near a Bed, Bath & Beyond--go check it out. When I first saw the pillow, I thought it looked too small, but it is actually just the perfect size. Also it has a soft removable cover.

My wife bought some foam, then made the pillow case and stuffed a certain amount of foam in it. Nope, try again and she would add some more. I would sleep on it until we got the exact combination.

I wouldn't trade that pillow for anything. A...it fits perfect. B....it has just the right amount of love in it.

I LOVE the SV.
