Resmed AutoSet Spirit or AutoSpirit II

Post by notslam » Sat Nov 24, 2007 7:45 am

Hi all,

I am interested to know if there are any reviews out there on these machines. I currently use a an auto spirit that is about 18 months old. I am happy with it and being treated has changed my life. I need to obtain a second machine as I live in 2 places and I don't want to carry it with me each time.

I would love to hear from users of the machines to see how they like them. Also I would like to hear from anyone regarding downloading data from the machines. Can you plug them into your computer? Do you need special software? If so, where do I get it?

Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to assist me.

I'm in the USA and I have both a Resmed S8 Elite w/EPR and a Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage. My equipment order for insurance purposes was the Resmed S8 Elite and I love it. Eventually, of course, I caught the back-up & auto "bug". I self-purchased a RemStar Auto w/C-Flex pre-M series when yahooauctions was still in business.

I got very good therapy w/the RemStar but I missed the easy access to data via the good size, easy to read, LED screen on the Resmeds. I did have the software and cable reader for the Respironics EncorePro and MyEncore.

When the opportunity arose to purchase a lightly used but complete Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage I jumped at the chance and bought it. I sold the RemStar to my son-in-law. I've been fortunate to be able to find both the AutoScan 5.7 and the ResScan software and a Resmed ACR38 cable reader.

So far as I know, the AutoSet Spirit II was only recently introduced in Australia and that may be the only country in which it is yet available. It was a good deal because the ResScan (v.3.3 I think) came w/it as an introductory offer. DSM posted about that w/in the last couple of months in this forum.

Hi, just wanted to pop in and say, I have the S8 AutoSet Spirit™ II and WOW!!!! Im in the UK and it was released here about a month ago just at the right time when I was changing machine.

Its SO SMALL!! and virtually whisper quiet!! I can hardly hear it, it sits on my bedside table next to my head and it does not disturb me, I used to place my Remstar on the floor as it was so loud!!

I have no idea about getting the data from the machine to a PC as Im having so much trouble locating the software, apparently its called ResScan or something like that, but its rare in the UK. Saying that, its an AMAZING machine!!

Thanks Slinky and Dbolding. I appreciate the feedback. These machines are expensive and there is a large amount of choice out there. Any advice is very helpful.

Both the S8 Autoset Spirit models have the same data download capabilities.

You can transfer data using the ResScan datacard that comes with the Autoset Spirit or via a cable.

If you want to use the ResScan card you will need a suitable card reader. If yoiu want to use a cable you will need a special USB cable from Resmed that fits into the card-reader connector at the rear of the machine.

To retrieve the data you need either AutoScan 5.7 (now discontinued) or ResScan Software. Availability depends on where you live, but if you are using an Autoset Spirit, you are probably not in North America and it shouldn't be difficult to find a supplier.

Cheers,

Bill
