Beware of Lemon Slices in Your Restaurant Drinks

I still have mask marks on my face while I am typing this, so it is not off topic.

EVERYTHING makes us sick! restaurants are hotbeds of germs as far as i am concerned, but it doesn't stop me from going out. and anyway, being exposed to a little bit of disease causing organisms actually helps you build up immunity, remember? so maybe the dirty lemons are actually GOOD for us.

and regarding the corona, let's just pretend the alcohol in the "adult" beverages kills off those microorganisms, eh?

So are the "butt kissers" in the office healthier than the rest of us?

Nasty.... very nasty.

But it's just a new twist (yep.. a pun) on an age-old problem.

They seem to go farther, higher, faster and all that......don't they?.
So, it depends on which yardstick we use to measure "healthy" in that context.
I have never been able to do that type of thing. I've always been one who ends up stepping on the toes of those whose ass IS attached.....that I WON'T kiss.

And, I don't eat sliced lemons, limes or other fruits like that, so I'm not worried.

I read that before Rooster and don't order lemon in restaurants any more with my water. Last week my Mom ordered tea and put lemon in it and I cringed, blech. If I don't know something that is one thing, but to know and do it anyway, no way, blech!

I heard about this a while back.
Sheesh. If I was worried about everything that was going to kill me, make me ill, or just plain gross I'd live in a bubble.....
Iced tea without lemon -- not in the plan!!!!

It's like Gallagher (watermelon comedian) said a long time ago......"Ya gotta get chemicals in your food and life. It sets up an immunity. If you don't, and you get them accidentally they'll knock your a** dead"......

Gross??? What's a steak??? (and I ain't a vegetarian )

cheers

I guess that the same thing applies to the lemon they put on top of your healthy fish!

New Math or Sour Math? You Decide...

Post by -SWS » Sat Mar 08, 2008 12:23 pm

Direct quote from Rooster's lemon-wedge news story:
news writer wrote:They found that seventy-seven percent, or two out of every three lemon wedges they tested, had disease-causing bacteria.
My take: bacteria found on lemon wedges can adversely affect basic journalistic math skills.

Alternate take: 77% is more than three-out-of-four---unless we're counting lemons, in which case it's only two-out-of-three.

P.S. Thanks for posting that, Rooster.

"Not necessarily cause for alarm"

Post by BigGayBert » Sat Mar 08, 2008 2:28 pm

Doesn't everything we eat have bacteria all over it?

I think that the researcher herself said it best at the end of the video, "Not necessarily cause for alarm." I've been putting lemons in my water for my whole life and I'm still here.

Good catch SWS!

I use to teach math and economics at an arts college. The science teachers and I use to justify passing kids by saying, "People who can't do math, still need careers." I guess the same applies to journalists.

On the other hand, I can't color within the lines .

Sheesh....
Now I'm wondering if that really was brown mustard on my "hot ham & swiss on rye" from the carryout.

Ehh... either way, many get grossed out about knowing what's eaten by the critters they enjoy eating. Buck up, and enjoy the spices. (Hmmm... what was that strange spice flavor?)
