Hi Everyone,
I joined Cpaptalk in October. I need some help with dealing with high vibratory snore index scores many nights. Usually, my AHIs are 2.5 and under. My leaks seem to be okay for my current pressure of 13.5. However, some nights I have a VS of 25, 13, 11. I alternate using my UMFF and my Swift II. I use a Ruby Tiara chinstrap and Polident strips which don't seem to have come loose during the night. What could be the cause of the high VS and how can I remedy this? Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom.
Steph
Vibratory Snore Index
Usually it's caused by pressure not being high enough, that can be caused by leaking, mouth or otherwise. Also sleeping on you back makes it worse. Congestion makes it worse, even dragging the hose on the bed makes a noise that can be picked up as snoring.
With the software you can better see when it happens and maybe the cause. If you have a full data capable machine. Your profile doesn't really show the machine you use, just remstar "m" generic. Jim

It is snoring or something making a noise that's seen by the machine as a snore. Draging the hose on the bed can even be counted as a snore. With me if I take a deep fast breath with my mouth closed, it makes a snore sound from the back of my throat. It drives my APAP crazy. Jimjomac30 wrote:What exactly is a vibratory snore? Is it just a vibration in the place of the sound of a snore? Is it bad to have them?

Vibratory snore
Jim, thanks for mentioning about sounds from the hose dragging on the bed. I've often wondered why inexplicably I'll have a bunch of vibratory snores. Now I'm thinking it's the nights I'm extra restless and every time I flip-flop I pull the hose out from wherever it's become wedged. Fortunately that doesn't happen often. Usually just one turn-over mid sleep.

Since I had my septoplasty last year, I sometimes get a vibration that comes from my nose. This happens lying on my left side. This was the side that was pretty much blocked and was fixed. I'm sure my machine counts this as a snore, even though it isn't.
Anybody else that has had septoplasty had any strange noises coming out of their head?
LOL
