I see a lot of people complaining about air coming from their masks into their eyes and drying them out, but what I have going on is air coming up through some sinus cavity or something behind my eye and blowing out! It's really freaking me out --it's a very odd and uncomfortable feeling. It feels like a big bubble coming up in the back of my eye socket, big enough that it feels like it's pushing my eyeball making me crosseyed, then a moment later it breaks free and I can hear it whooshing like a fan through my tear duct.
Has anyone else out there experiences anything like this? I'm concerned that it might not be "good" for my eyes...
Air coming OUT through my eyes!
Re: Air coming OUT through my eyes!
We all have a little "drain" built into the corner of each eye....nearest our noses. I think this "drain" is called the "punktum"....or something like that. When we apply eye drops, we can sometimes taste the medicine...because it has gone down the "drain" and into our airway.....and ultimately into our mouth/throat area....where we can taste it.
Evidently, your pressure is high enough....and your "punktums" are large enough in diameter.....so that you get air leaks through them into the corners of your eyes.
I don't see how this would be dangerous....but, I'd take a long, hard look at why the pressure is high enough to cause this discomfort.

I would call an eye specialist to let him/her know what is happening and let him/her decide if it is a serious issue or not. It may not be serious, but if it is, better to have it checked out as soon as possible before any damage is done. This is what I would do as you can't go back in time if you wait too long. Eyesight is precious. please don't take chances. Better to let the eye doctor know what is happening.

Re: Air coming OUT through my eyes!
Im up at 4.30 researching why my left eye is doing as you describe. Also, just recently when I blow my nose air will come out of my left eye? Im not sure it is my pressure on my machine as it has only recently started happening and only in one eye? Any more suggestions another than pressure. I will call the doctor tomorrow and post more if I find out.

A total face mask may keep the pressure the same on both sides of the eye. This mask may have some potential for you but it does have mixed reviews.

This is what I found in one of the reviews directly related to your situation: "It has also completely solved the issue of pressure leakage through my tear ducts, Halleluja...personally this is tanamount to finding the "Holy Grail" as the pressure inside and outside my tearducts is now ambient. This provides a solution for an ongoing serious issue I have always had with compliance."

By all means, discuss this w/a good ophthalmologist, not just an optometrist! There IS a relationship between OSA and glaucoma they are only recently beginning to recognize. High pressure in and behind the eye is NOT a good thing!!!
