Respironics Comfort Classic - condensation over and above?
Respironics Comfort Classic - condensation over and above?
Evening all.
Still in my first 30 day "find a mask that works well" phase, and the DME sent me a Comort Classic in a small. Now it fits very nicely, is comfortable and I don't think I get many leaks at all on it. The problem is that even with humidifer at 1, within a few hours it has condensed up so much that it starts dripping on me. I change out to my Mirage Micro (not quite as comfortable), and the leaks go away. Anyone know what causes this mask to condense so much? Also, what is the little white plug on the front of the mask for?

many masks have oxygen ports to hook up an oxygen line - bet that is what you mean by the white plug - you want to keep that plug in there

Yep, that's it. Still wonder why it 'fills up' so bad at night with condensation. I like the fit, but can't stand the wet.jules wrote:many masks have oxygen ports to hook up an oxygen line - bet that is what you mean by the white plug - you want to keep that plug in there

don't know if you can try something like this - maybe tape the wick onto the sides of the mask

In the Encore Pro Dailies Report,(Software) what does it give for the leak rates of both masks. Odd's are the leak rate is different, the mask that moves more air will be cooler and cause more rainout. The cure is to lower the temp on the HH or raise the temp in the room, or get a heated hose. Jim

Well piddle then. Can't raise the temp in the room....hubby and I both can't sleep if it is too hot, and this time of year we love for the cooler room...the HH is set to 1, I think the only lower setting is 0 and even 1 left my throat scratchy.....heated hose is problematical, not sure how to do that, but have an idea.....wonder how a wide pvc pipe vertical for hose for first 3 feet or so, with a light beneath it allowing heat to rise into the pipe but with a "blackout cover" that would not keep us awake would work. ...hood the light into the pipe, run hose through pipe, cap pipe at top to prevent light from bothering us......double insulate the rest of the hose.....hmmmmm.....Goofproof wrote:In the Encore Pro Dailies Report,(Software) what does it give for the leak rates of both masks. A heated hose - is something you can buy.
Those of us who need lower pressure have worse rainout problems.
I need a hose cover, for both hose and the tube leading to my mask, and a heated those - bought mine at http://www.sleepzone.com.au --they ship internationally, but I understand their heated hoses are available from the States as well. Its worth investing to help you use the mask that fits you best.

Do oyu have the software and reader for your machine? You may have a mouthbreathing problem that needs addressed. I too use a nasal mask but have the leak rate under control, I have stopped using the HH, except for a muffler, and the last two months I haven't even put water in it. Last night it was 52 degrees in the bedroom and 2 degrees out side, I keep the room heat closed off and the door closed, w/ electric blanket set low.
The aussie hose works well and is fairly safe to use, some make shift ways aren't so safe. jim
