I was posting on an animal forum for suggestions on how to help my cat--who is so miserable--through her nose congestion with this cold. (OT - Any suggestions welcome. Yes, been to the vet, on Monday, and she had two shots--antibiotic and anti-inflammatory. Her tonsils were a little swollen and she licks her nose raw whenever she gets this.) Someone on that forum suggested Olbas oil, as they had used it before by putting a few drops on a paper tower under their cats bed. The site says:
"Swiss Aromatherapy Massage Oil and Inhalant...As an aromatic inhalant, this completely natural essential oil formula delivers invigorating and soothing sensations to the nasal and bronchial areas. Olbas Oil can be dropped onto a handkerchief or into warm water for inhalation during the day. At night, a drop on a tissue tucked inside a pillowcase can help stimulate and enhance your breathing passages so that you get a good night's sleep." http://olbas.com/olbasoil.htm
I'm not a PurSleep user, but I was wondering about putting a drop or two of this on something outside the intake air vent on the cpap machine, since putting in on a tissue inside the pillowcase wouldn't work for us cpapers! Don't know if it would really help congestion or not, but...
I like Vick's, and tried a little bit of that outside the air vent, but it's too strong that way. I'm very sensitive to fragrances, smells, etc., so anything coming through the cpap hose that I've tried so far doesn't work for me--makes me cough, etc.
Thoughts?
Pam
EDIT: I just did a quick search on this site for Olbas, and did find few postings, so some of you might know about this already, although it's new to me.
