Aclaim 2

Post by Fredman » Thu Mar 26, 2009 8:34 pm

I just bought an Aclaim 2, Fisher Paykel. When I check their web site, they never show the Aclaim 2. I emailed Fisher Paykel and ask if they are still going to be producing and distributing the Aclaim 2.

The answer was just one word.... "Yes".

Anybody know about the history of the Aclaim 2?

I will have my first sleep with it tonight. Promising test fit this afternoon. Wow very quiet. I hate to happen on to a good mask to find that it is not going to be around.

It works well, but F&P had problems with returns on the Aclaim 2 (HC401) due to the mask T-piece fracturing on one of the stress points.

They replaced it with the HC405/6/7 masks which have a different form of construction which doesn't use a separate T-Piece, and so don't experience that problem.

The seal and cushion from the Aclaim 2 also fit the HC405 mask.

Cheers,

Bill

I have one here. It was one of the first masks my GOOD local DME supplier offered me. (My first local DME supplier was a sheister). I didn't do well w/it but that was very early in my starting therapy. I eventually found a mask I'm doing real well w/and have never bothered to go back and try out the Aclaim2 again. 2 1/2 years since starting therapy I might well do much better w/it. I don't remember that I hated it. But since I have a mask I really like why bother?

Thanks for that info, BillBolton. The HC 407 was another I tried early on and set aside. At the time I didn't know there was the smaller HC 406 and I didn't even recognize any resmeblance to the Aclaim2. I might have been happy w/the 406 as the only problem I remember w/the 407 was that it was too large. But ... I'm glad I set it aside at the time 'cause I am really happy w/my Simplicity.
