Post by Michele1234 » Fri May 01, 2009 6:40 pm

I'm thinking about getting a new mask. I have been searching around online I know the prices are ridiculously high,Any recommendations on who has the lowest prices for those of us that self pay i.e. No insurance. I'm looking for a nasal mask

Michele.....

Your best value...is a mask from CPAP.com....the sponsors of this forum. Not only do you get good service....at a reasonable price.....but you benefit from all the knowledge that's available on this site.

Most of us are self pay for masks as you need several different types when you start and even those with insurance only get one. I bought several from people in this forum for low prices (about $50) for barely used masks. I also bought two more from cpap.com and looked on cpapauction, but never got one there. I am not sure I agree with you on the high prices, although I thought the same thing at first. I think the ResMed masks are a little higher, but are better constructed and I got a lot longer use out of their masks and cushions. Still using one after a year for the UMFF in a small size. The key is getting a mask that fits you properly. Several of the good nasal masks come with a complete set of pillows, so they are going to fit if you can use them at all. I don't like Respironics masks, but IF you can figure out the actual price rather than the inflated price shown on the web sites, they are fairly inexpensive and fairly good. I like to browse the cost of the mask return insurance on cpap.com as it reflects how well people like (and keep) the first mask they buy. If the return insurance is high, there is a good probability that you won't be able to wear it either!

My Swift LT for Her comes with the xsmall, small, and medium pillows and I was able to trade my small and medium pillows for xsmall ones, with folks on this forum. That was just about $1.20 in postage for each of us and it allowed us to get extra pillows while keeping the ones that didn't fit from going to waste.

mar (and now I have pillow penpals)

I was surprised to find that Amazon actually has some of the more popular masks if you want to compare prices.
