If you have an ear for the lyrics and can figure them out, I would appreciate seeing them here. Thanks.

BTW, my impression is that they think sleep apnea means sleep deprivation.

The music style doesn't suit a geezer like m'self, but here's something I found somewhere about that song:

Frontman Pete Loeffler told The Pulse of Radio that the trio wanted to take the tracks out for a test drive. "Those are possible singles that we were trying to bang out over these next six weeks, just to kind of get a vibe, like a real world feel for them," he said. "'Letter From A Thief' is sort of an old-school Smashing Pumpkins vibe rock song. 'Sleep Apnea' is sort of a, it's kind of a joke how when you're on tour you're always trying to catch up on your sleep. It's just a heavy rock song that I would love to hear on the radio."

So it probably has nothing to do with OSA, just sleep deprivation.

I checked through several lyrics sites and Chevelle sites. They have no song called Sleep Apnea, they do have one called Sleep Walking Elite- but it doesn't sound like the lyrics would match what I could make out of the song in the video. SO- I looked for a song called Sleep Apnea; and came up with this one, by Buck 65- Here are the lyrics for you:

Buck 65 Sleep Apnea Lyrics:
[spoken] :
In my darkness
I speak now upon this object of nature
And now upon that
And find it impossible to soothe my restless head
However much I wish it
This perpetual action of mine deprives me almost wholly of sleep

(Buck 65):
I haven't slept, sleep being the cousin of death
And as I lay there awake at night there wasn't a breathe
That exited my body that didn't coincide
With the recycled evaluation of feelings that I know inside
Boy Scouts have had their way with my stomach
And a marionette hangs limply from my most important muscle
I simply can't imagine living on the moon
Hope that I can climb my way back to dreamland pretty soon

(Buck 65):
Prosthetic throwing arm, isn't it fantastic?
I won a one way ticket to hell in a handbasket
It seems like I got it made, and then I begin to feel
Like I'd give up all my winnings for
another chance to spin the wheel
I don't know if I have a prayer or a hope in heaven
All I know is that I'm afraid to read my horoscope
It makes me wanna holler or at least let out a yell
I'd give up my next life if I thought that it would help
I don't wanna play no more, I just wanna get to sleep
Cuz most likely sleep will let me forget about the other people
That haven't been able to make me stop feeling
Like demons are hiding the walls and in the ceiling
My catcher always told me you can't hit what you can't see
Your absence actually aggravates my fancy
And my own stubble tickles me and irritates my sensitive skin
I'm surprised at how uninventive I've been
I'm frozen, but my mind's made up and I've chosen
To lock the door behind the next person that goes in
Raindrops keep falling on my cheeks
And on my trusty little halo over my
head, and so it's getting brushy
I've been poked by so many fingers
That getting poked by fingers don't bother me no mo'
I feel like a jelly fish, unselfilized, uncivilized
Unspecified, unspecialized
Currents carry me, my own endurance buries me
Deterrents make me weary, so I wear this ring for reassurance
Currents carry me, my own endurance buries me
Deterrents make me weary, so I wear this ring for reassurance

If this is the right song,it does seem to be more about sleep deprivation.
Hope this helped.

Can't wrap my head around those words. Anyway, I prefer elader's, which he posted a while back:

The whoosh of air marks off the hours of each night
standing watch for events which I hope will not come.
A splint made of nothing keeps my life intact,
and allows me to dream once more.

I LOVE that "splint made of nothing" phrase!!

Jeff/jnk, I'm sure you could turn this into a totally cool tune.

Thanks Joan,

I think there are many abstract references to sleep apnea and CPAP in those lyrics.
Buck 65 Sleep Apnea Lyrics:
And find it impossible to soothe my restless head
However much I wish it
This perpetual action of mine deprives me almost wholly of sleep
Clearly a reference to insomnia. "This perpertual action of mine" - maybe the relaxing of airway muscles?
I haven't slept, sleep being the cousin of death
Awake he breathes well but sleep is akin to death for the apneic. As Dr. Mack Jones says, "Healthy awake, deathly ill asleep."
Boy Scouts have had their way with my stomach
Could he be referring to Camp Bug Juice? Most likely his CPAP is causing aerophagia.
And a marionette hangs limply from my most important muscle
For a singer isn't the most important muscle the mouth? "Marionette" might be a reference to a full face mask.
I simply can't imagine living on the moon
He has been told that with one-sixth gravity, his obstructive sleep apnea would go away.
Hope that I can climb my way back to dreamland pretty soon
The typical lack of REM sleep.
I won a one way ticket to hell in a handbasket
Weren't we all like that before starting CPAP?
Like demons are hiding in the walls and in the ceiling
Clearly a reference to DMEs.
And my own stubble tickles me and irritates my sensitive skin
Haven't many of us had this issue with our masks?
I'm surprised at how uninventive I've been
He would like to be awarded one of Rested Gal's Lab Rat trophies but he is not the Rube Goldberg type.
Raindrops keep falling on my cheeks
Obviously rainout.

Poor guy. I hope he gets his therapy tweaked soon.

Well, when they come out with the new album, I hope it has a song named "Restless Leg Syndome"

I hard for me to get into this kind of music, so excuse me.

Remember that I grew up in the late 40's and 50's when little old ladies fainted when Rhett said "Frankly, I don't give a damn".

Remember also, that the networks refused to show Elvis from the waist down, for fear of killing some older viewers.
