Chin strap which style is best?
There are several types of chin straps. I did view the video on this site, but I want the users opinion. What type do you use? There is a white stretchy kind that looks like an ace wrap. Then there is the kind the has a hole that the chin sits in... ETC. ETC. ETC.!!!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Here's a link to a cpaptalk.com challenge where the Respironics Premium chinstrap won over the ResMed Sullivan chinstrap.

Here are the results of the chinstrap challenge....Resperonics may have won, but, most users were not satisfied.

Same here - IMHO - best chin strap/headgear on the market. Best I've ever tried, it works like a charm, and I've tried 'em all!LSAT wrote:I've been using the papcap sinc early July...it's comfortable and it works.

That Ruby chin strap is rather light for many people.
Re: Chin strap which style is best?
The PAPCap chin strap gets my enthusiastic endorsement! I use the Plus version because I like to use the built-in straps on the PAPCap for my Activa LT mask (instead of the headgear), but the Standard PAPCap version is great too.

I had one of those ace looking straps and hated it. I have been using a papcap for a couple of weeks now and I love it!jasminechichi wrote:There are several types of chin straps. Re: Chin strap which style is best?
I have tried about 5 different chinstraps. While I agree the papcap strap is comfortable, it was not effective for me as it loosens and slips off during th night.
I tried the wide white one and it was the least comfortable. I could not wear it more than 30 min.
The red one above is not bad but is very tight. If you can get used to it, it will work. I have a big head and it is too tight.
My favorite is the Halo by Breathe Wear. It has the hole for the chin to keep it in place, but there is stretchy material in the hole. It has the thinest straps, but still strong enough to hold it tight. It is fully adjustable also.
My 2nd choice is the papcap but if it works for you it is a good one. I still use the cap sometimes as it makes the other straps more comfortable.
Good Luck

I have used several brands of chin straps, and I cast a limited vote for PAP-Cap. Although it certainly isn't perfect, it has worked better for me that several others including two Topaz Rubys.

Re: Chin strap which style is best?
Hi---I have limited experience and have tries only two. First was (forgot the manufacture) red, rubberized, hot and didn't last one night. I think I threw it away.
Then I found the papa-cap and really like it,
It has papa-cap slippes a little on some nights, but my leak data does not suggest comprised treatment. It is comfortable as the papa-cap by design distributes the mask and chin strap pressure over a larger area. It take some time to put it on and this is getting easier/quicker each night.
This is the one that I recommend and while I am at it---also the Aussi hose. These are the two discoveries that have added comfort to my CPAP treatment; therefore a smile.
Best to you.

Re: Chin strap which style is best?
Note that the ResMed is weak and small. It is well constructed unlike most, and a nice looking product, but of course it is function that counts.
I have not had my hands on the Respironics in that test, note it has a strap around the back of the head but not around the forehead.
In one of these threads I put my comments on several and design in general. Note that the really good wide white one has a soft, almost fuzzy surface whereas the black version I've seen is too slippery to stay in place.
