Nasal pillows & sore/broken nose

Post by Spirit » Sun Aug 09, 2009 1:33 pm

Hi,
The first two nights of cpap treatment, Swift LT did not cause any issues, but waking up on the 3rd day, my nose feels sore/broken, hurts alot when I touch it. Wondering if my bed pillow was pressing up against the nasal pillows, or if this is a common problem that will resolve itself.

Has anyone else experienced this ? Any bed pillow recommendations ? I'm using med nasal pillows, should I try small ?

Thanks for any help.

I have been usiing the swifr II nasal pillows for three years now and in the Beginning I had sore Nose/Nostrils. Some suggestions I might offer is to use a water Based Gel like KY or Ayr in the nostrils and don't tighten the straps too tight. The air flow will inflate the pillows iin the nostrils. trial and error always works. Best of Luck

Hi Danny,
Thanks for reply & info. I will try gel from local pharmacy. First two nights were a breeze, don't know what happened the 3rd. Will try your suggestion.
Thanks.

Yikes, I hope it works out for you. I ordered a Swift LT recently...waiting for it to arrive. I noticed that a lot of the long-term pro's on here use it, so it must be a good mask. I've used small band-aids on my nose due to the soreness my ComfortGel Nasal gives me. You may want to try that or moleskin until your skin "toughens up."

Hi Cajun,
Thanks for reply & info. Swift LT works fantastic !!! I think last night, I slept more harder then usual, when I woke up, during the night, my bed pillow was applying pressure to the nasal pilows. I'm a stomach sleep, I bury my face on a pillow, something I need to work on. I've alway's been a heavy sleeper, even when I didn't have apnea. First two nights, was a breeze ! No mask adjustment.

Your going to enjoy the Swift LT.
