best cleaning soaps?

I'm finding the common cold or sinus infection is a big nusiance. Clean is really important.

The instructions that came with my mask and humidifier say do not use bleach, detergent, etc. Use mild soap without lanolin. What do the instructions say about cleaning your mask and humidifier ? Remember the old saying. "When all else fails read the instructions"..... LOL....Amonia based products will craze many plastics/plexiglass and eventually cause cracking. I use kirks shampoo to clean my mask/hose/humidifier..

The best soap is pure soap according to the manufacturer's literature I've read. Ivory soap (the one that says it's 99.4% pure) is the purest soap on most store shelves. I use it all the time to clean my masks and hoses and it does just fine

I use Ivory bar soap. I lather up my hands...then continue to clean my cushion......rinse with warm water and sit out to dry. I clean my water container (humidifier) and my hoses about once a month.

I'm allergic to pure soap like ivory. It just dries my skin right out and then I get an itchy red rash. I've been using mild dish soap from a local drugstore....lavender scent, cheap and works well so far. It is not antibacterial (I was told not to use any of that). I clean the mask, and the bottle and rinse the hose daily. Cost under $2.00 CAD and looks like I'll have it forever. Once a week I soak everything in a 1 part vinegar to 10 parts water bucket. Disenfects it all.

I use baby wash for my mask, filter, & hose & then put the humidifier parts in the dishwasher (top rack) once a week.

I got told by the nurese in my DME supplier that although the manual says that you cane place the parts in the dishwasher, don't do it. It's too harsh. Just wash by hand.

Hmmmmmmmmm...I was told by the nurses to wash the humidifier in the dishwasher or else I had to go through the whole soaking in vinegar routine once a week. I've been washing mine in the dishwasher for a year now with no problems. It's interesting how much different information we are all given!

I use Planet Dishwashing Liquid.

Planet is biodegradable, no scent, no anything.. very good to use.

I use a similar thing, but it is an unscented liquid hand soap from "Kiss my Face" (arghh...). I had to have a price check on a bar of soap from that company in a grocery store once. How hugh-mill-i-ate-un...

I use dish soap and find it works very well. Is there any reason not to use dish soap?

Please note, I'm handwashing not using a dishwasher.

Anti bacterial dishsoap can prematurely age the silicon cushion on your mask. I noticed that my nasal pillows were stsrting to last longer because I was using a soap wiithout lotion,, moisturisers or antibacteial ingredients. Oddly it is hard to find dish soap that doesn't have all of that.

i was told by my oxygen company to use white vinager and i use dishwashing liquid grapefruit scented but just plain old dishwashing liquid and letting the parts to the mask(after i disconnect them)and the humidifier
