That warning is for the older Remstar Choice systems. Anything else you can run at max pressure on dc power. If you call tech support, they will tell you the same thing.
12v DC current draw for REMStar Auto
Re: 12v DC current draw for REMStar Auto
Thank you so much for this info.!! My old Remstar Pro just died, and debating between a Respironics Remstar DS55HL and a Resmed S9. As per provider, Resmed has info. on amp draw (.95amp at 8 inches, .89 amp at 6 inches) but Respironics doesn't provide that info at all! I know my previous Remstar didn't lower the voltage on my two deep cycle Trojan 6volt batteries more than .2 volts overnite (RV), so have been happy with that.
Your info. helped me decide to stay with Respironics for boondock RV usage! On my cpap that just died after 7 years, my humidifier wouldn't work on 12 volt and assume it doesn't on the newer Remstar DS55HL either, and if want low amp drain that is the way to go anyway??
Thanks again! Ted Bend, OR

Re: 12v DC current draw for REMStar Auto
I am not sure what model the DS55HL is. Just tell us what name is written on top of the machine. The newer Respironics machines have a 12v humidifier but that would increase the current draw on the battery. I use mine at home in the passover mode most of the year but did add an HC 150 to increase the water surface area.
For some reason Re$med makes their machine run off 24V DC and requires a very ex$pen$ive (~$100) power adapter. I made a DC cord to fit my Respironics with parts found at Radio Shack.
