Fastest remedy for red marks on the face in the AM

Post by KittyKisses » Sat Dec 19, 2009 8:35 am

I have very sensitive skin and my full face mask leaves red indention marks on my forehead and cheeks and a huge red welt on my nose. My mask is comfortable to sleep in but I hate waiting hours for the indentions to leave my face. The bridge of my nose stays red all day. I have tried moleskin, cotton cushioning around the outline of the mask but so far nothing has worked. I have tried ice cubes and ice cold milk wash clothes to help reduce the redness but they take a long time to work. Any ideas??

Kitty,

I've had some success with the Sleep Comfort Care Pad.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/sequal ... e-pad.html

It is a little tricky to get it to stick - I wash my face with mild soap and water and also wash the pad before use. And the moisture makes it stick, so you can place it on the bridge of your nose, and hold in place with your mask.

Get a mask that works! Here are the two that I use:
http://www.nomask.com
http://www.sleepweaver.com

I haven't had ANY face mark problems and the bridge of my nose has never felt better. Over the years of usage, you ARE going to alter your face with these other masks.

The no mask and sleepweaver use different design principles.

Hi Kitty,

Fastest would probably be not to have the marks in the first place. Try looking up Pad A Cheek either here or just do a Google search. Her covers might help you, and at considerably less expense than some other solutions.

Happy Naps

For redness at the bridge of the nose, I put some lanolin and cover it with a band aid. The redness is usually gone by the time I get to work.

I have not personally used the padacheek but I know people who have and they work fantastic. You said you tried moleskin did you put it on the forehead piece or on your forehead? If you put in on the forehead pad you can put two pieces on there and that should be enough. However if you are getting marks that bad and that deep, your mask is too tight.
You didn't list what mask you used but if it ia a quattro or Ultra Mirage Full face those masks kind of float on a cushion of air. They are kind of like a hovercraft but don't leak like one if put on and adjusted properly. If they aren't put on and adjusted properly they will leak like a hovercraft and then the wearer will tighten up the headgear so tight that it leaves marks that last for hours.

Please go to your profile and list what equipment you have. When you list your equipment please have it in words not pictures.

have you thought about piece of surgical tape (nexicare M3) over your nosebridge before putting the mask on, the same one we use to close our mouth shut for those of us who use nasal mask?? I think it can protect your skin in first place

Lanolin's one of the oldest and best known skin creams (or base for adding other ingredients) known to man - why not Google it+chemistry and see what comes up?

Kitty,
Lanolin is a greasy yellow substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals.

People on this forum have recommended Lasinoh which is ultrapure medical grade made for breastfeeding mothers to sooth and protect. It is quite thick and will stay where it is put all night. CVS and others have it.

I also recommend Pad-A-Cheek for the lines on your cheeks made by the headgear. Very soft and soothing.

I get red marks on the corners of my mouth under my lips. Probably from leaking saliva. It's contrary to what most forum members recommend but just before putting on my mask, I put on a nice coating of CeraVe hydrating cleanser. (Also recommended by a forum member) The pump bottle, not the cream. It seems to prevent the marks. I also put more on just after removing my mask. I've been using it for about 1 yr. and it hasn't deteriorated my mask cushion at all and it doesn't affect the seal.

Good Luck,
