My built in humidifier in my apap seems to make my sinus issues worse. I have tried it at 1, 2 and 3. The higher setting the worse congestion. Of course, if I don't use it at all I wake up with horrible sinus headache and dried out nose from the dry air.
I purchased a steam vaporizer today to try and alleviate this problem. I am concerned about the placement of it, as my apap is on a library stool about 10 inches off the floor beside my bed. I planned on putting the vaporizer on my night table, above but higher than the apap. I have noticed the steam seems to rise from the vaporizer and am wondering if I should try and switch the placement of the two? I originally put the apap low because of the noise.
Does anyone else use a vaporizer instead of or in conjunction with their xpap humidifier?
I would appreciate any advice or comments.

I think the vaporiser can be anywhere in the bedroom
you should clamp airhose to bedboard to stop pulling CPAP off stool if you roll over a few times in sleep

Re: Humidifier VS. Vaporizer
I use a humidifier instead of a vaporizer, it seems to do better keeping moisture in the air, of course this time of year the heater really dries out the air. I have both the humidifier and my CPAP on the same nightstand. But I don't think it matters where in the room you put your vaporizer, just as long as your getting the moisture in the room. Maybe some here who has much more experience than I do, will have a better suggestion for you.

Re: Humidifier VS. Vaporizer
They are two different animals, the XPAP HH adds moisture to the air going into the hose. The Humidifier adds it to the room air. If the room is cold, the moisture condenses on every thing in the room that below the DEW Point, making mold more likely as far a better place for germs to grow. I would prefer XPAP HH to a Vaporizer. If mouthbreathing is controlled correctly, you won't need much added moisture. Jim

I recenlt ran into this seried of videos about nasal issure and their relationship to cpap usage. Prehaps you might find some ideas there for making things easier on you sinuses - maybe even treatments that can be disucssed with your doctor.YawnGirl wrote:My built in humidifier in my apap seems to make my sinus issues worse. Another aspect worth checking is the use of a passover humidifier -- that one, because of its larger surface will supply more humidity than your integrated one, whithout the heat. The colder humid air my be better for you.
