My machine was a purchase by my insurance company, they aren't renting it for me.
My DME while helpful in getting the initial equipment, has been fairly unhelpful when I had questions, I have gotten the vast majority of any assistance I needed from this forum, and also directly from my insurance company (policy questions)
So, I keep getting (ok, only 3x, but still, I;ve only been doing this since mid october) letters from my DME wanting me to fill out and send back, about how therapy is going, do i think it's effective, once they had me send in my data card, and this last one they had me write down the compliance data, and there was also a questionnaire about how often i use it (Which... they had from the compliance data, were they trying to catch me lying?), am i finding it effective, etc.
Each of these letters claims the insurance company needs the data.
So.. I guess. I'm now at the point that I kind of resent the third party interference. I kinda feel that I shouldn't have to report to this company... I'm not accountable to them. Is the insurance company really requesting compliance data? What do those of you who don't use DME's do? Do you simply not report compliance data to anyone? Directly to insurance co?
Am I being unreasonable?
question about reporting compliance data to DMEs
Re: question about reporting compliance data to DMEs
I don't think you are, your therapy is between you and your doctor. The DME is just an equipment supplier (amongst other things )xiola wrote:

Re: question about reporting compliance data to DMEs
some insurances require proof of compliance and they usually do this through the DME, but once the equipment is purchased by your insurance then your requirement to "deal with" the DME should be done.
