Stomach Problems related to CPAP?
Stomach Problems related to CPAP?
I am new to CPAP. but I just wondering if anyone out there has had the same probl;em I've been having. I noticed that my severe heartburn was increasing with the use of the CPAP machine. Last night I did not use it and the heartburn is better. I noticed in one of the articles on-line at the Sleep Apneas association, stomach bloating was mentioned, but not heartburn. Anyone have the same problem and have any suggestions?

I have not had that problem while using my machine. Perhaps you are swallowing air at night and don't notice it.
And...even though it may appear to be related, perhaps the heartburn and using the machine are not related. Sounds weird, I know. Perhaps a trip to your primary care physician would help.
Good Luck!

Hi Marg,
Welcome to cpaptalk.com!!!
I would give a quick call to my sleep physician and ask him/her. They may have seen something like this before and can advize you. Your primary care doctor is a good source as well, but I am not sure if a cpap related issue would jump out at them as something they have seen before.

CPAP & Stomach Problems
Hello, I wanted you to know that GERD (acid reflux) and OSA are related, I have both and seems they travel together for many of us. I had my CPAP for 6 years before I knew I had GERD, my ENT is great and( just started seeing him this year) and he tested me for it and POW, then a new sleep study, and am on a Full Face mask now, and Remstar C-Flex, am still adjusting, but I know it is Extremely important to use mask.
Also, make sure the head of your bed is allivated, you don't eat at least 3hrs. before bedtime and watch your food taken in during the day, I am on Previced and it works for me, but still Flux...
Check with your Dr/ENT on this don't let it go on long.

Apnatic.
