Tubing wrap

Post by akeegan » Mon Feb 15, 2010 11:28 am

I have a 2M ResMed hose with a ResMed tubing cover. It doesn't seem to do much for rainout except decrease flexibility of the hose. I get rainout on my 4i humidifier at 2.5, and none at 2.0. I do use a good deal of water at 2.0 with eight hours of sleep, so I guess I'm okay, huh? I suppose the cover does keep the heated air warmer at the mask, though. I just wish I could get warmer air without waking up inhaling water...

Thanks,
Al

Dear Al,

I've been having the same problem. I got condensation in the hose, and so I put the sleeve on from res med, but now I have condensation in the mask causing "rain out". Thi is because my husband likes our bedroom temp at round 64 degrees in the winter and when I exhale, my breath is much warmer than the air. I will most likely have the same problem in the summer when he turns up the a/c. I have finally broken down and ordered an Aussie heated hose from Austrailia - cost $139.00.

Here is a link to the http://www.sleepzone.com.au/ site for the heated tube.

Like Jersey Girl, I also use the heated cpap tube from sleepzone.com.au. Been using that for years -- I'm on my second one as of a year or so ago. Works wonderfully well.

Some people have found a cheaper solution to do the same thing the sleepzone heated hose does -- keep the plastic hose slightly warm, preventing rainout. Some have put a reptile heat cable along their regular main air hose.

I also like the room temp on the cooler side at nite.
Finally was able to buy the Aussie hose, and it's helped immensely.
