Smart Start/Stop
Hello, I had been using my Resmed CPAP MAchine S9 series for 2 weeks and its great since its so quiet. My only problem is that the smartstart/stop was disable for some reasons I do not know. Before once I wear my mask the machine will start immediately but now I am doing manual by pressing the start/stop button. Is there anybody who can help me to enable the smartstop/start.

Access the clinical menu (Press the setup button and the rotating button for 3 seconds) In there you can set Autostart to either Patient or On.

The MASK ALERT will not alarm with the auto start/stop enabled. Personally, I'd rather the mask alert was working and pushing on/off is not a big deal for me as I use the mask fit feature every night.

There is no such thing as mask alert on the S9.

I don't know about the new S9 machines, but in the previous models, if the mask selector was set to MIR FULL, it disabled the smartstart feature.
From the troubleshooting section of the S8 Auto manual:
Use of a ResMed Full Facemask.
SmartStart does not work with a full-face mask as the
anti-asphyxia valve will not allow sufficiently high
pressure on exhalation.

That's right Den - S9 is the same as the S8.

I found all the answers regarding my ResMed S9 Elite very helpful. Thank you to all who posted answers here.

Thank you sooooo much! I pressed setting and held button down for 3 sec and it unlocked the specs. I found autostart and now all good. Thanks again.
