Just picked up a replacement S9 and H5i on Saturday...
At the request of ResScan Tech...
They say they will report back their findings.

I have not yet tested new machine for Heater and Humidity response... I will early in the week.
I'm catching up on sleep right now.

I have a similar problem, but not the same. Air is warm enough, heater turns on, but no moisture in tube and water level remains the same. It does not appear to produce any moisture. Have to remove the mask after 3 hours due to total dryness. I Continue to increase settings to see if results change. It is possible that there is a defect. I plan on contacting distibutor and ResMed this week. Anyone else having similar problems?

You have to stop flying with your machine over active volcanoes.

I had to go to Australia to pick up the new S9... I had no choice but to fly over the volcano...

You should have gone the long way around rather than going through the North Pole

Costs a lot more... and there's barely any damage to the plane... just 2 of the 4 engines...

I have wrote on another thread:
Last night I set the humidifier to the max (6), woke up around 5:30 am and heard strange wesing sound (like it is in a turbo mode) from the machine. Was I woke up by that noise?! don't know. I open the water chamber and feel the heating pad IS warm. I then turned the humidity down to 4, the strange sound eventually faded away about half hour later. In the morning I took off the nasal pillow, water splash out and the hose got rain out. The water level down about 1-1/2 level from the normal 1/2.

Looks like the H5i does response to the setting change. I'll try the setting to 5 tonight and see what is the outcome.

Does the machine sounds warning/alarm when in the risk of rain out? Wondering why the strange noise, was it trying to cold down?
Thx kf, I'll give that a go and see what happens.

I'm pleased to advise that my H5i appears to be working. After kf10's advice and communications with my provider I switched the S9 to manual climate control, fitted the standard hose and ran the humidity at 6.0. I didn't notice any warming before I dropped off to sleep but next morning I had a rain out situation and the system was slightly warmer. The temperature was ~27deg C measured with a small industrial thermometer that I fit inside the H5i and can be seen through the H5i window. This was confirmed by the provider who also advised that the H5i only operates at below 45% relative humidity and warms to 27deg C when in auto climate control. Brisbane doesn't get this low level of humidity till winter. Thankyou for the advice kf10.

Nord, did you ever get the humidifier issue resolved? What was the cause of the problem?

Yup... The ResMed rep wanted it changed out for a new box S9 and H5i. He took it away and he hasn't got back yet... doubt he will.
Meantime the new machine works just fine, thank you. It can be adjusted to a very fine degree of temp and humidity with Manual Setting.

I have been experimenting to arrive at "just the right balance".
I have had the humidity up to 6.0 and temp down to 78 with no rainout.
I am now at 4.5 Humidity and temp at 74 Deg... its pretty close to perfect right now.

In short the heater pad is now working well...

Thanks

Thanks for the update, Nord! Glad to hear that all is working well now. That climate control system sounds dreamy.

Just received my S9 yesterday evening. To my surprise, I don't think the humidifier is working. I was awakened several times last night with a dry mouth and a sore throat this morning. Any suggestions? I checked the plate last night a couple time which wasn't warm at all. I would think that the hose would be a little warm as well. Is there something that I'm over looking?

The humidifier for the H5i does not work like what you are used to with previous versions. I went through the same thing and was convinced something was wrong until my RT called her ResMed rep and he explained how it works.

It has a sensor that detects you room temp and humidity level and adjust itself accordingly. If it's above a certain temp or humidity level in your room then you are not going to get the amount of humidity from the machine that you would normally expect. They did this to resolve the rainout situation.

The work around for this is to set your climate control to manual and turn your humidity way up. I ran mine at 6 one night just to make sure it worked and ended up with rainout after about 3 hours. I've settled on 4.5 and I'm making it through the night with minimal dryness and no rainout.

Try running the prewarm cycle to confirm that your heating plate is working.

Well dang! That defeats the purpose of "Climate Control " in a way. On would think that you can turn the huminity up and the hose controls the rain out. That's one of the main reason that I got the machine to take the human intervention out of it.

Thanks
Jeff
