Medi Wedge Mattress Insert

Post by beneyw » Thu May 06, 2010 3:47 am

Many of us also suffer from GERD and I was advised to obtain a wedge type insert, not a pillow, but a device that goes between the mattress and box spring to elevate the entire mattress 4 inches or so as to sleep on a flat slope. Has anyone purchased a Medi Wedge insert and if so, what is your reaction to it? Before spending a couple hundred dollars I am hoping someone has had some experience with the item.

Thanks.

Before you spend for a wedge, raise the head of your bed by putting some blocks/bricks under the headboard. In that way you will still be flat. It is easier to sleep on your side with the bed raised vs wedge................plus it's FREE!

I agree with Lsat.

I don't suffer from GERD; however, I still like to have the head of the bed raised a bit and
accomplish that via blocks under the head supports of the set. The last time I did this I used
a couple of old thick paperback books as the "block" given nothing else was handy.

No need for a wedge cushion on top and you save $200.

I have a regular wedge that I can put on top of my bed and it works fine for me. I don't have any trouble with Gerd, but do have a little trouble with acid reflux. When I want to sleep at that angle, at least I have the wedge. Good luck with what ever you do. Huggies, Fay

Careful with wedges. Except for the MediSlant wedge and the wedge insert mentioned in the OP, the other wedges are not long enough and make you bend at the stomach which could actually worsen acid reflux.

Bed risers are available for less than $15 and they work very well.
