bump on septum post-septoplasty

Post by SleepingUgly » Tue Aug 17, 2010 6:28 pm

I've developed a bump on my septum since my septoplasty and turbinate reduction. I can see it looking into my nostril. For lack of a better description, it looks like a wart or skin tag growing out of my septum, but it is firm and doesn't yield under pressure, nor does it seem to move. I am pretty sure it's not supposed to be there. I'll see my surgeon next week when she returns. In the meantime, has anyone had this, and if so, what the heck is this thing??? Thanks!

I had something similar, though it turns out it was just stitches or something working their way out. (Looked like a fishing-line knot. lol)

I don't know what a fishing-line knot looks like exactly, but above the bump, there is this horizontal point... It looks like a triangle shape coming out from the septum and coming to a thin, needle like point, but horizontal across my nostril. I am not sure how a suture could remain so horizontal if it wasn't rigid! Is that what you mean?

But the bump is almost like a wart or polyp or something, and it doesn't seem to move. It also seems to bleed very mildly, not enough to drip, but if I stick a kleenex in and touch it, there might be a dot of blood on the kleenex (sorry so graphic).

Hopefully by now you have seen the Doctor!

In general how do you feel after the surgery? It took me a while (several months) to begin reaping the benefits of the surgery.

Good luck!

Unfortunately the doctor has been on vacation, so I won't get an answer until Wed. I just hope whatever it is does not entail general anesthesia to remove.
