Tylenol Pm's as a Sleep Aid ?
Tylenol Pm's as a Sleep Aid ?
Has anyone used tylenol Pm's as a sleep aid ? I am under the Presumption that possibly tylenol Pm's would benefit Tha Cpap user as long as they used the Cpap Machine and would not be Harmful ( Causing more Apneas ). I was previously using Melatonin as a Sleep Aid but am Currently out of the Melatonin but have some Tylenol Pm's here . Thank you.
Re: Tylenol Pm's as a Sleep Aid ?
I took it for a while when I was working on going to bed earlier. The PM ingredient did help me get sleepy, but once I settled into a routine, I dropped it because I was made aware that it may be counter productive in sustaining sleep, and it is not recommended for those with RLS. If you sleep deeply once you go to sleep, maybe you won't be significantly affected. If you do try it, let us know how you did.

You can bypass the Tylenol (unless you need it for pain) and simply take Benadryl. It's a bit cheaper that way. You can also buy the store brand and save even more! This is what I use when I just can't get to sleep. I rarely have that much difficulty anymore since cpap. I think a lot of my insomnia was due to my subconscious telling me 'you don't want to go sleep, you'll die!' kind of thing.
Another one to try is Unisom. Diphenhydramine in the 'generic' name. I used both in my insomnia days and they usually did the trick. My doctor said both are fine for occasional use.

I had the same experience as Outasync - made me jittery and kept me awake all night long!

Isn't Benadryl a CNS depressant?
Very bad for Apnea patients!

Unless you are also having pain, avoid the tylenol ingredient... like another said, simply take benedryl (or branded as simply sleep, unisom, among others). Tylenol in excess will cause liver damage, so avoid that unless you actually have pain (and then use sparingly).

My sleep doc said it was fine. I use the generic and take it maybe 3-4 times a week. If I take it every night, it stops being effective.
