When the RT from my DME brought me another vpap auto 25 I asked her about different masks. I was curious about one thing she said. I asked her about nasal pillows and she said that's good for cpap users, not bipap users. Is that what you've all heard too? Could it be the change in air flow causes too much movement for the nasal pillows?
Also, is that true with most masks, that the constant pressure of the cpap keeps them on your face better.
And as a related question, do users of cpaps do better with better AHIs than users of bipaps, because of this mask issue?

Nasal Pillows for Bipap
Re: Nasal Pillows for Bipap
For some reason RT's don't know unless they also use this therapy. I successfully use nasal pillows at 18/15 and my AHI dropped to <1 when I moved to BiPap.allend wrote:When the RT from my DME brought me another vpap auto 25 I asked her about different masks. I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: Nasal Pillows for Bipap
I am also interested in the experience other bipap users have had with them, I really found the hybrid mask I tried my last study comfortable and I thought effective but the tech came in and said that it was leaking...seriously I was in REM could not have been leaking that bad. She was so sure that I just needed the quattro smashed into my face as tight as she could get it. I am considering just buying the hybrid myself.

Re: Nasal Pillows for Bipap
The Hybrid (not to be confused with the Liberty) has a high leak rate... but when it's fitted correctly (see my post on your other thread) it works well for me.

1. She's wrong. Many BIPAP ers using pillows here.
2.Hybrids may have a greater tendency to leak, BUT plenty of members have found work-arounds that work for them.

I tried the resmed mask that went over the mouth and had nasal pillows, I need to see what the name of that was. Ok tried the Liberty, I really liked it so bummed the tech said it didn't work, it had to work somewhat I was in REM when she woke me up.
