IS ASTHMA RELATED TO SLEEP APNEA?
IS ASTHMA RELATED TO SLEEP APNEA?
Has anyone also noticed asthma problems with their sleep apnea? I am still wheezing now for months and exhausted all the time especially when I start jogging. Also I've noticed heart palpitations.

I've had asthma problems... but not the ones that you mentioned.
I had trouble adjusting to CFLEX. Made me feel like I was wheezing.

You really need to see your doctor because whether or not you have asthma and/or whether or not it affects your Cpap is not something for us to guess at. If you're having palpitations and are short of breath then you could have cardiac problems, maybe minor, but at least let the doctor make the call - we're just 'us' here and even if someone has had similar symptoms at some time, that's no way to decide what's going on with you.

cpap cleared up a lot of mine. Nothing like breathing clean filtered humid air for 8 hours and reducing acid reflux to help with asthma.

Re: IS ASTHMA RELATED TO SLEEP APNEA?
Absoultely, you need to see your doctor. Asthma affects the lungs and CPAP treatment will not treat or cure asthma. Get an appointment ASAP--you do yourself no favors by not getting proper asthma treatment.
Are they related? They have different primary causes and symptoms, but there are probably some overlaps. Untreated GERD is definitely implicated in asthma, and GERD may either be caused by or may even cause apnea. So, as Black Spinner points out, getting good CPAP treatment may quiet the GERD, and that helps your asthma, as well as breathing clean, filtered air all night. (I actually put my CPAP on once during the day when there was a big fire in the area and the air was smokey--it helped, along with my fast-acting inhaler).
BUT, you MUST get the asthma under control, the CPAP will not do that.

I've noticed my heart pounding hard when I wake up and also a little chest pain sometimes. Is this serious? A lot of the doctors I go to seem to ignore my symptoms

Are you being treated for sleep apnea presently?
I can tell you that I would wake up with my heart pounding, and my stomach pulsating (abdominal aorta) and have chest pains in
the morning..
often I would wake up with an irregular heartbeat, very irregular.. and by the time I made it to the doctor it all stopped..
this went on for fifteen years.. so of course the doctors cant treat the symptoms if there are none by the time you see them..
but they could look a little friggen further, couldnt they?
This year my husband mentioned to a cardiologist that i was raging insomniac..
this one comment is what lead to a sleep test, which lead to the reason I had all the heart issues..
SO...if you havent been tested for sleep apnea, you might mention it to your doctor..
bye the way, my issues are pretty much when I lay on my back.. so until you get in to see our doc, try sleeping on your stomach just in case
you have the same problem..
