Re: BiPap for $200 on craigslist
Seems like a very good buy and it says used very little but if that is the case why is it being sold for such a low price ? I would be a little skeptical about purchasing it if I was not local and could see the machine in person. Just my Opinion.

Re: BiPap for $200 on craigslist
The thought of buying a BiPap (or any kind of xPAP, for that matter) on Craigslist grosses me out to no end.
I'm NOT against buying used equipment... quite the contrary... but I just can't see myself buying off of Craigslist... I'd rather buy from CPAPAuction dot com or (in a pinch Ebay).

Re: BiPap for $200 on craigslist
If I didn't have insurance or enough money, I would consider buying a used machine. When buying off craig's list, I would want to talk to the seller and find out the history of the machine, and see the machine in person, to check the hours, that it's not smokey, and that all the functions work.
However, if it's out of town, that is not possible, and I know that people on the forum have taken a chance and it worked out fine sometimes, and sometimes not, even on cpapauction. Ebay is not allowed to sell xpaps.

Re: BiPap for $200 on craigslist
I bought a backup machine through Craigslist. I need a BiPAP AutoSV, which costs $5800, even at CPAP.com. (It sells for $6995 at my local DME provider.) My insurance covered my first machine, but will never replace it. So I began to check various Craigslist sites and eventually I found one in Oregon. I'm in Kansas, so shipping was required. I talked to the seller several times and had him plug it in to confirm that it worked. I could actually recognize particular beeps and other familiar sounds and was certain it was the machine I needed. I convinced him to ship it to me. I paid him first and therefore I accepted all of the risk. He had his money and he also still had the machine. This isn't the way Craigslist prefers deals to be made, but the guy convinced me that he was legit, and he was. He shipped it and I received it in one piece, exactly as advertised.
Here's the best part....He sold me the machine for $175. I paid him a bit extra to cover shipping, professional packaging and his lunch. When the machine arrived the hour meter showed 1.6 hours of use. The data card showed that it had been used on 1 night only for 1 hour, 35 minutes. The seller got it from his best friend, who had just died. The seller told me something like "Maybe he should have used that machine more. He just hated it."
So, I now have a $5,000+ back-up machine that I was able to find essentially brand-new for $200 on Craigslist. At least now, the machine has a good home and will be used to save a life - mine.
Best wishes,
Tony

Re: BiPap for $200 on craigslist
Wow Tony, that was one heck uv a good deal.
Both of my machines were bought from craigslist. Brand new with zero hours. The first one was local and the guy happened to go to the VA and they gave him a new one and his insurance did too. So he had an extra new one. Don't know if he had another for backup and since I was in the middle of DME war over a machine I was glad he wanted to share.. I paid a little less than I would have through insurance if I figured 13 month rental co pays.
My second one came from Tacoma, WA area. I am in Missouri. My husband is over the road trucker and happened to be in the area so I had him pick it up. It was as presented in the craigslist ad, M Series Auto AFlex with zero hours of use. I think he had some sort of DME store since he also had some new masks and other machines. While this guy sold me the machine as presented when I attempted to get a machine again from him (for brother in law) he did screw me over. So anyone seeing a craigslist ad in Tacoma area, beware. I do have his name and address in case hubby ever gets up that way again. He didn't ship as promised, kept getting one excuse after another.
Both came with humidifiers and the data cards. I got the second machine for $225 which was way less than I would have paid through insurance.
So I have never used my insurance to get a machine. Thinking of using insurance and getting one of the newer fancy models one of these days.
Craigslist ads can be risky. I would advise extreme caution for items that cannot be inspected and hands on purchase. I knew I was taking a chance but since I had already got one machine from him I knew he at least had some. I thought he was okay. So much for thinking.
Anyway, I would still use craigslist but only if I can get my grubby paws on the stuff before I fork over any money.
