3M has a new version of their Blue painter's tape that many of us use to prevent mouth leaks.
For the last couple of years, I've been using 2" Delicate Release model #2080 tape. Evidently, 3M has discontinued that version and replaced it with a new and improved model.
Model #2080-EL
Advanced Delicate Surface with Edge-Lock
Bar Code #5113179750
2" x 60-yards
I've used the new version for the last two weeks and I can report that it does a better job. The adhesive has a different formula and seems to have more holding power than the previous version. The new adhesive, however, has a slightly unpleasant odor during application....which is actually beside the point....because we can't smell it after the mask is in place and the CPAP machine is in operation.
Removal may be just a slight bit easier than the previous version....so long as one remembers not to pull straight away from the face. The increased holding power will make removal a bit painful if the tape is pulled off at a 90-degree angle (perpendicular) to the face.
Painless removal is achieved by slowly and firmly pulling the tape over itself....parallel to the face. I experience zero discomfort when removing in this manner.
After removal, I can again smell the odor of the adhesive, but there seems to be no residue. After showering, there's no adhesive smell.
During two weeks of use, I've experienced no problems....and my leak line is "straighter" that it was when using the old 3M version. My AHI is staying at 1.0 or below every night and my pressure averages about 10.5 cm. My machine is set on "CFLEX" in an "AUTO" mode with low end pressure at 9.5 cm and upper end pressure at 14.0 cm.
Finally, I'm experiencing no allergic reaction to the new adhesive.
Highly recommended!

Thanks for the review! I will look for this tape next time at the store.....
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.
