hello
I have been cleaning my nasal pillows with the CPAP Mask Wipes purchased at CPAP.com
I twist the wipe in order to get it inside the pillow to clean the inside, without taking it off the hose.
I do this every morning and it is not that efficient.
I'm wondering if a Q-tip dipped in alcohol would work better?
Or will the alcohol damage the plastic?
I clean everything with warm water and dawn detergent once a week. So I am looking for a quick, daily cleaning technique in addition.
Any good ideas out there?
thanks again!!

Re: cleaning nasal pillows??
When I had my cold the DME said that I could wipe my equipment down with alcohol but not to do it on a regular basis as it will dry out the mask.
I've used q-tips for my nasal pillow - works great. I just took one of the wipes and rolled the q-tip in it and pressed, transferring the cleaning solution into the q-tip when I did this. Heh. . . then I ran out of q-tips and completely forgot I ever did this. . ..
I'll be glad when my short term memory isn't so short term. pft.

I alternate between using cpap wipes and taking the Swift LT pillows off the gear and washing them. When I wash, I use moderately warm water and Dr. Bronner's liquid soap which is mild and all natural. I have two bottles of it one in unscented and one with lavender. I really like the lavender as it gives the pillows a nice scent for a short while. After I soap up my hands, I wash the pillows thoroughly and then rinse them out. I usually just shake them to get water out and let them air dry from there.
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.
Re: cleaning nasal pillows??
Since I have gone to using nasal pillows 95% of the time now I prefer to take them off the headgear and wash them as Emilia does. I have my own dedicated clear, hard plastic bowl so it doesn't take much soap or water. I rinse them under the tap, shake them well and place them on a paper towel to air dry. It may just be me but it seems the pillows are oil free more so from washing than wiping with the wipes. I'm looking at 5 minutes to remove the pillows and washing them and another 3 minutes (or less) to put them back on the headgear - 8 minutes out of one day is not much. I'm not all that frugal but wipes cost a lot more than liquid Ivory does.
Re: cleaning nasal pillows??
I don't wash my nasal pillows every day. Quit doing that a long time ago. Sometimes will go a week.

I clean mine with distilled water and white vinegar once a week and it works great for me.
