DreamOn wrote:I can add/remove hulls from both my small and large buckwheat hull pillows too, and the zippered covers are washable. I slept with the larger one, which is the size of a standard bed pillow, last night. It was fine, but I think I prefer the smaller one. That may be because I probably need to remove a few more hulls from the larger, though.

Did your husband buy the Bucky Duo (buckwheat & millet hulls) or another one? I've spent a fortune on pillows since starting CPAP—and I am happy with the one I use now—but I've been tempted by that Duo for a long time! I hope he likes his new pillow.
People must think I am working for beans72.com since I talk about it so much. My standard pillow from them weighs between 9.5-10.5 pounds. I can sleep on my back now without getting a backache. I think with shipping, it ran me about $53. Ebay has them and Amazon.com also but the prices are the same. I have never seen one used on Ebay. Once you put this little baby down on the bed, you just use your hand to rearrange the hulls....you won't be moving this guy during the night.

I ordered my husband a "Japanese Style" 14" X 20" that is buckwheat on one side and millet (birdseed.... ) on the other. It is coming tomorrow. I suspect he will like it since he is a more lively sleeper than I am and it is lighter than the all buckwheat (which I love). I added my own lavender but I think the aromotherapy one beans72 that already has the herb in it would have been about the same price.

The company site has a deal right now:

Pillow Cover & Pillow Included
Traditional American Style
This Buckwheat pillow is filled with 100% natural, organic, triple air cleaned flattened buckwheat hulls.
Each pillow comes with zipper.
100% unbleached cotton. smooth and comfortable texture and very durable.
Color: Natural 14" X 20"
The only thing that we could think of to make our pillows better was to throw in a cover and offer it on special...
So here they are!

This is the Japanese smaller size, $29.99 with shipping around $10. It would be a good size to try and not spend a small fortune.

I bought my husband a pillow from a major dept. store for Father's Day (before I bought the beans one) that is memory foam on one side and fiber fill on the other. He says he likes it but since he is tossing and turning the pillow all night, I think he just wants me not to feel bad. It is REALLY flat and I know I couldn't sleep on it. Oh well, another pillow hits the closet tomorrow night for emergency guests.

I DID have 2 remove the "rose sachets" from my pillow. The lavender are fine (natural, organic lavendar) but the rose scent was artificial and gave me a headache less than 5 minutes into bedtime. I thought it was just rose petals but the artificial fragrance isn't anything I can use. I will go back to Ebay and order some more lavender since it is a big pillow and I want to be able to smell the scent more at night.

LOVE MY PILLOW!!!

I'm with you - no artificial scents and I don't even think I want my pillow having any scent. But hey, I have a mask and hose hooked up so how could I smell them in the first place LOL I love using Pur Sleep scents and my other essential oils. Guess I need to try out the buckwheat pillow. Lazy here as I could look through the thread(s) . . . where did you buy it?

Got my std buckwheat from beans72.com. It weighs between 9.5-10.5 pounds and cost me about $55 w/shipping.

My husbands duo pillow, millet on one side, buckwheat on the other came today. A LOT softer than all buckwheat. Way too soft for me. Might be good if you like a softer pillow.

Louise - I hear you have rain on the way today (TV) and I hope it pans out for you. Ordered the Japanese size w/American style pillow case from beans72.com. Let's see what kind of delivery service I get here in South Carolina via UPS from Texas. I could have ordered this directly from Amazon and probably should have since I get everything I order there in two days through the 'Prime' program. Looking forward to getting mine.

Jim

Look up here, Louise. Got the buckwheat.

We had a bit of rain this AM but now the sun is coming out. We are supposed to have thunderstorms all week but we need a TON of rain, not just a few drops. The wildfires are really scary and people are losing their homes.

George slept on his combo Japanese Style pillow from beans72.com last night. He used the millet side but he is a pillow squisher. I love the all buckwheat since it adapts to my headgear so well. He said he didn't even get up once all night which is unusual for him.

Be forwarned that the Japanese Style is a LOT smaller than the standard. 14 x 20 compared to 20 x 26. I didn't think it would be such a huge difference. However, since even the smaller size is between 4.5-5.5 pounds if I remember correctly (standard is 9.5-10.5) you STILL move the filling not the pillow during the night.

I got my "American Style" cases yesterday too for the buckwheat. The fabric is softer than the pillow ticking and personally, I like a regular pillowcase rather than a zippered one for sleeping. I suspect it will wrinkle a lot when washed (100% cotton, more muslin type fabric) and I would never put it in the dryer. I do NOT iron pillowcases!!

I also ordered some lavender from them. I have bought some off Ebay but this is especially nice. It seems to have a sweeter scent than the others I have bought. Of course, you can't smell the flowers when you have your mask on but I always relax in bed before "settling in" and the fragrance, to me, is heavenly!

This company isn't the cheapest out there but I am very pleased with the quality of the product. It is overstuffed and you can add to/remove the hulls. Some of the pillows I checked out before buying mine were pretty flat.

It took about 4 days from Brownsville to Houston so it will probably be a bit longer for you although Ebay reviews say generally, shipping is prompt. I am so glad I invested in this pillow. We all have a closet full of uncomfortable pillows and not nearly enough guests to use them all.

Let me know how you like your pillow! Oh yeah, did u get the buckwheat or duo????

Does anyone know how the beans72 buckwheat pillow compares to pursleep's Regenesis equivalent (http://www.pur-sleep.com/products/prodD ... rch=&page=)?

Well, the Beans pillow doesn't have the box type edges. You can buy quilted covers for it that go over the cotton ticking one. There is no weight listed for the Pur pillow. Who knows what a gallon of buckwheat hulls weigh. The Beans pillow gives a weight-it's heavy.

Looking at the video, the Pur pillow has a lot less fill than my Beans and is more "squishy". You can remove hulls (and save them) from the Beans if you like squishy. I LOVE my Beans.

He really liked it. Still using the millet side. He said is is so comfortable he doesn't need to try the buckwheat side. I am so nosey that I would HAVE TO try both sides!!!

Yeah, me too...Always wondering if that other side might have some unknown pros to it.

I have the Regenisis buckwheat pillow and I love it. Suits my mask needs as well as my arthritic neck with the plate in the spine.
Still there is a part of me wondering if I would like your heavier buckwheat pillow.....

No, the edges are flat like a regular pillow. It would seem to me those sides would squish down when you put your head on the pillow. If there is piping on those edges, I think that ridge would bother me.

I just lucked out and got the perfect pillow (for me) the first try!

I went to the site and saw hulls sold separately and it brought up a question for me. Do the pillows need to be refilled after use? Perhaps the extra hulls were for those who decide to have extra firm pillows.

I read somewhere that you will lose a maximum of 20% of the "loft" The extra hulls are if you need to add to it.

My standard buckwheat weighs between 9.5 and 10.5 pounds! I still love it. I just wish I could smell my yummy lavender sachets I put in it when I have my mask on!
