In preparation for a vacation, I was cleaning my hose and mask, and took off the filter to clean. I forgot to reinstall the filter, and didn't realize it until the last day of my vacation. Obviously I was breathing un-filtered air, but other than that, does unfiltered air do any damage to the machine? It seems unlikely to me, especially just over a 1 week period, but thought I would check here and get some opinions.
By the way, I was in a beach bungalow on a small island in the Gulf of Siam (Thailand), so I suspect the air was fairly clean to begin with, thought probably a bit higher salt content than Seoul !
EDIT: I have the Resmed S9 as shown in my profile, but I didn't use/bring the humidifier. I find it unnecessary during the summer months, while essential (if not powerful enough) during the dry winter months.

Hi - don't worry about it at all - it'll take more than that to damage the machine or yourself!

Re: Forgot Filter - Did I Damage Anything?
I agree with Julie. Probably did no damage at all. The filter is to protect the machine's insides, not yours. One week of using the machine without a filter in a clean vacation bungalow should not have caused any problem.
Of course, if a bug crawled inside... (just kidding!!)

Should not have done any damage to your machine and no damage to you since you are here to tell us about it. Hope you had a wonderful vacation. That part of the world is beautiful.
Re: Forgot Filter - Did I Damage Anything?
Probably more importantly, there's not really anything to do about it after the fact other than to take a quick look into the intake to make sure there's nothing you can easily clean out. I wouldn't try sticking or spraying anything, even compressed air, into there to try and clean it out.
Don't repeat it, but I wouldn't worry about it either.
This is probably a good time to recommend that everyone put an extra set of filters in their carry bag.

A spare filter cover is only 7.95 at Cpap.com for the S9 Resmed. It would come in handy if yours broke. That far from home some inexpensive spare parts

Re: Forgot Filter - Did I Damage Anything?
Thanks everyone. To clarify, I was asking about the machine, not me!
