Devilbiss SmartLink software problems

Post by mgrunk » Mon Sep 05, 2011 6:44 pm

I just started using my Auto Intellipap from Devilbiss and wanted to reinstall the SmartLink software, but encountered a problem. I had no issues installing it last year, but now I'm receiving an error:

The specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration or is not valid. Inner Exception = System.ArgumentException: unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed at System.Data.Common.DbProviderFactories.GetFactory (String providerInvariantName) at System.DataEntityClientConnection.GetFactory (String providerString)

I believe it's a dot net issue - I've unistalled both the sql server and the software and reinstalled, but have the same issue.

Any thoughts?

Sorry but I am not familiar with this software at all.
Someone who is may need to know about your computer. Is it same computer you had no problem with last year?
What operating system, service packs, 32 bit or 64 bit etc?

What version of .net? I have 4.0 already installed for another app.

I also already had a SQL Server Compact 2005 installed for another app but also installed the one on the disk.

I would guess someone isn't playing nice. I know I had sql server express installed last summer.

I'm using Smartlink v 2.3.0.0 under Windows 7 Home Premium with .net Framework v1.1 and v4 installed. No problems. I haven't tried to reinstall Smartlink, but the initial install went on without any issues. Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling?

Per the great Devilbiss rep:

This is a known issue with SQL Server 3.5 compact edition. Simply to go to Add/Remove Programs in Windows and click Repair on the SQL Server 3.5 compact edition installation. That should resolve the issue.

And, I'm back in business.

I can say it enough..... how very lucky we DeVilbiss users are to have DeVilbiss Marketing to help resolve issues right here on this forum. What a great company and customer service!
