Software for Resmed S8

Post by ErnieH » Wed Sep 21, 2011 1:52 pm

Does anyone know where I can download Resmed S8 Elite software? Also, I have a 32 bit computer. Do you know if the software is for both 32 and 64 bit?

Thanks,
Ernie

Uncle_Bob's signature line has download link.

I do believe it will work on both 32 bit and 64 bit computers.. I don't remember if there is a choice during the download but I know Windows 7 users with 64 bit computers use it. This is same software that the S9 uses.

You will the special card reader though. Do you have it?
Hard to find and expensive when you do.

Ernie, the software works but the drivers that are included are old and won't work for Vista and Win 7. If you need new drivers, you can download them here: http://www.acs.com.hk/index.php?pid=drivers&id=ACR38. You want the ones for version 110 (non-CCID) of the reader.

The PDF export doesn't work in Win 7 x64 either.

Any reason why he would need a Resmed card reader vs a card reader he could find at an electronics store? I'm using the one built in to my computer but I have the S9 and not sure if the data cards are different or the same.

I didn't realize that. What type of card does the S8 use? Is it a proprietary card?

Yep. Special card that I link to in my post. There is a way to modify an ACR 38 card reader but it has to be a special ACR 38 card reader at that. I think Jay can explain it better than me. I never bothered to learn since I didn't have that machine. I did have the Respironics M series machine and I had to have a different special card reader and nothing else would work at all.

When the companies changed to SD cards instead of smart cards this software stuff got a whole lot easier.

When ResMed discontinued the S8 line most of the online suppliers for their special card reader have not bother to restock it when supplies were exhausted. So the proprietary card that I linked to in my post is hard to find and pricey.
Even the ACR card is not cheap.

I'm sorry Ernie, I didn't think about the card reader itself when I answered earlier. The drivers I alluded to are for the card reader. As Pugsy pointed out, they are a little difficult to come by, if you don't have one. See my post here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64673&p=603330&hilit=+acr38#p603330 for info about using a generic card reader and links to other posts. If you search acr38 or resscan smart card reader, S8, you'll turn up lots of info.
Before worrying about the software, you need to find a reader, if you don't have one.
Jay

Jay,
I bought the ACR38, but I was not able to get it to work, so I purchased the Resmed reader on Ebay.

Thanks

I forgot to mention that I have XP, so hopefully the drivers work.

Hopefully it will work when I get the Resmed S8 card reader. When I used the ACR38 and open the program, it says , There are no devices available for downloading data. Then under that it says, Connect a flow generator or data card and try again. I went to Device Manager under System Properties, and it said, This device is working properly. I just don't know where to go from there.

Thanks,
Ernie
