Cpap machines more expensive in Canada,Why?
Cpap machines more expensive in Canada,Why?
I have been checking the internet for a new machine as mine is already 7yrs old and I would like a new one, but, looking at the prices for a new machine is very expensive in Canada, yet, in the U.S. it's almost 1/2 the price for the same machine, can some one tell me why that is? Also, does anyone know if any of our extended medical will reimburse me if I do get my new machine, etc. from the States?

Supply and demand, smaller sales pool. Just order from the cpap.com (our hosts) or clinicalsleep.com if you want Resmed. cpap.com delivered my Hybrid mask in 4 days to Montreal. There is no duty on medical equipment.gmama55 wrote:I have been checking the internet for a new machine as mine is already 7yrs old and I would like a new one, but, looking at the prices for a new machine is very expensive in Canada, yet, in the U.S. it's almost 1/2 the price for the same machine, can some one tell me why that is? Everything depends on the province you are in. In Quebec = nothing.

But I would also check with your own insurance company because different ones allow differing amounts of time between new machines, e.g. 5 yrs vs 3 in some cases - masks more often.

I'd recommend ordering with our hosts and having them ship directly to you in P.G... they only charge a flat rate of USD 17$, while other online places have a sliding scale shipping rate to Canada that is waay more expensive than our hosts. Your machine will come in duty free, as it is labeled "medical equipment" and Revenue Canada has deemed that to be tax exempt. Even with the shipping charge, you are still coming out ahead.
Our hosts fast and friendly and I would recommend them to anyone.

Hi there
Take a look at clinicalsleep.com, they are in Vancouver. If they don't have what you want of the web site just email them and they will get back to you within 48 hours. Their prices are about the same as cpap.com when you factor in the shipping charges. I have ordered lots of supplies and a Resmed mask and have never been charged shipping. I know that Alberta does not pay for cpap, not sure about B.C., you should call them and check it out.
Used to live in P.G. ...6 years in College Heights, 7 years in Miworth and a year in West Beaverly.....still have lots of friends there.
Cheers
