Can't stop blowing my nose
Can't stop blowing my nose
woke up this morning with a stuffy head, sneezing and constant blowing of nose. I am using a nasal pillow. Have never had a problem before. It seems like I inhaled all the distilled water during the night. What would have caused this drastic change?
Re: Can't stop blowing my nose
To put it simply.....You have a cold!

If not a cold , then Did anything cause a change in the humidity level in your sleeping room up down? This can be a culprit.
Re: Can't stop blowing my nose
I noticed that when I had my nasal mask on, all during the night I kept waking myself up because I could hear and feel the air escaping from my mouth. This has never happened before. I am not sure I have a cold. I live in the desert southwest and we have dry weather. It is windy here last night and today, but I have not been outside.
All I know is I feel a tickle in my nose and I am sneezing and my nose doesn't stop running. I really was wondering if it was possible to inhale all that water from the humidifer.
Thanks for your responses.

Kay...I've had the same thing going on 2 months now...mine is not a cold! I started cpap in Sept. did fine, then Oct. hit, colder weather, heat on (we use wood so drier) and I've done nothing but sneeze and blow this whole time! I've tried everything imaginable, up on humidity, down on humidity, neti pot, nasal spray...you name it I've tried it! So far the only thing that has worked reasonably well has been to take zrytec-d...as long as I remember to take it, I don't seem to have any problems, but the other day I forgot it and spent all day yesterday sneezing and snotting til I was miserable again! Even taking the pill that morning didn't help, but still took one last night....not quite as bad this morning so will have to get the nose regulated again! It resembles a bad cold or worse case hayfever...I also use the nasal pillows (which I love btw!)...funny thing is, most nights I use roughly a half to 3/4 chamber of water, but have had nights where I use almost the entire chamber with no changes made to the humidity setting...temp in bedroom I'm sure plays into that, but can't really say whether the more or less water intake improves or worsens the symptoms!! I'm just hoping when the weather changes once again and the heat goes off things will clear up completely! Good luck to you...I know how miserable this can be!

Re: Can't stop blowing my nose
I have been on cpap for quite a long time now, and know what you are experiencing with your runny nose, in my case it has been caused bye the air flow irritating the membranes in my nostrils, some seasons are better for me than others. I take claratin when its really bad, my sleep Dr. gave me a prescription for IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE nasal spray this works well but I try not to use it unless I'm really in need. most times I have the worst symptoms in the morning. I never had this problem till cpap, tried different humitdy settings, tried without humidity, different filters not much help. I have come to the conlussion that I have allergies and some times of the year and conditions I am more effected.I can't stop doing cpap, cause other than nose irritations it has helped me greatly. Someone on the forum once said its like going to sleep with a leaf blower hooked up to your nose. I am thinking of buying stock in kleenex, if anyone can suggest solutions I'm sure myself and others would sure like to hear from you.
