Need Mask Cushion replacement help
My DME gave me a new mask cushion for my nasal mask today. I use the ResMed Mirage Activa. The label on the package she gave said it was for Mirage Activa LT. I've looked online at ResMed, CPAP.com and other suppliers and they have different cushion replacements for those two masks. My DME thinks the Activa LT "will work" with my Activa. I don't want to open the package because I really don't think the two masks use the same cushion. Another one of those things my DME needs to learn. Replacement compatibility.

I don't think that is covered in the 'training'.

Re: Need Mask Cushion replacement help
VikingGnome,
Yeah, it reminds me of a commercial for chicken nuggets a number of years ago... "It’s real chicken, parts is parts!"
If the DME gives you grief about it I would just take the mask cushions back with your mask and tell them to 'show' you how to change the mask parts. If it is as obvious as you say about the incompatibility of the replacement cushions, they will have to get you the right ones that fit, right? But... if they still stick with their assertion that they will fit I would refuse them and find a new DME if you can.

Re: Need Mask Cushion replacement help
I have both the original activa and he LT, and the cushion interface looks identical. The bodies, vents, adjustments, and headgear attachments of the masks are different, but the cushion snap in looks exactly the same. I'd open it and try it - make sure you get all 3 tabs in the cushion snap ring to snap in or you'll get a massive leak. I snap the one on the short side in first, then the two sides. Oh, and if by som fluke it doesnt fit (I'm sure it does!) it's your dme's fault - make them make it right!

They both fit.
I don't think they make the Activa any more.

Re: Need Mask Cushion replacement help
Perhaps the Activa mask is no longer made, however I got a new one while I was on vacation in Florida in January. My old mask broke at the forehead pad support, and my DME at home arranged for an immediate replacement . I prefer the old Activa to the newer ones, especially because it has the snap-on hose disconnect on the mask in case I need to get up after donning the mask.
