Recommendations on a hose cover/cozy/sock
To make my cpap less intimidating, I quickly knitted up a cover for my cpap hose. I quickly realized that I won't be able to wash it, and it's absolute hell to take on and off. It also really weighs down the hose, to the point that I kept on getting leaks. Would greatly appreciate recommendations on something lightweight and soft, but still able to take on and off to wash.
Thanks!
Thanks!

+1 on Padacheek. Well-designed products (because the designer is a CPAP user), outstanding customer service.nanwilson wrote:Most of us use fleece....check out padacheek.com, Karen is a member here and makes lots of items to make our therapy journey so much easier.

Zipper... Karen's is the only one that I know of with a zipper. All her products are superb quality and worth every penny. She is a cpap user herself.

Fleece is really light.
Karen is very quick in fulfilling orders, too.--and shipping is very reasonable.
In a pinch, a lightweight winter scarf can be wrapped in a spiral around your hose
with the ends secured with silicone "rubber" bands.

I use a zippered hose cover by ResMed. FOund it on several sites ranging from $12-$15. It's not fleece, but it works great. LOVE the zipper!

Thanks for your help and recommendations everyone. Just ordered one from Padacheek. Ordered last week the Anti-leek strap, which was shipped out extremely fast.
Re: Recommendations on a hose cover/cozy/sock
I used one of these hoses and finally got a fleece to replace it. I found that the hose was harder to fit if your hose was shorter which I find has happened. If the hose is shorter you can't scrunch this thing up and make it fit, you have to leave it unzipped. I like the idea of a zipper as it makes it a little easier to get on and off the hose but it only takes a minute or two with a non zippered fleece. Besides the fleece is quieter.2flamingos wrote:I use a zippered hose cover by ResMed. FOund it on several sites ranging from $12-$15. It's not fleece, but it works great. LOVE the zipper!

I don't have a problem with fit - it does seem to scruch enough that I don;t have to leave any unzipped. As for quieter - I am asumming you mean when rubbing on sheets/pillows? I have the end of my hose clipped to my pille case, so there is very little actual hose movement.Gerryk wrote:I used one of these hoses and finally got a fleece to replace it. I may find over time that it has become bothersome - but at this point, I like it and think it was money well spent.

I made mine off some left over Barbie pink camoe polar fleece (granddaughters poncho/robe I made). It is wide enough that it is easy to slide on and off.

Re: Recommendations on a hose cover/cozy/sock
i will be a new CPAP user tonight. During my 'info' session I was warned to not let my pets near the tubing as they will unfailingly chew on it or play with it. Are CPAP tubing covers thick enough to prevent a cat's claws/teeth from reaching the tubing if they try to chew or play with it? Thanks for any input!!!

Or since you knit, you could make a long Tom Baker 4th Dr Who scarf with zippers.

Re: Recommendations on a hose cover/cozy/sock
It depends on the hose cozy, the pet's teeth and claws and their desire to mess with things. In 5 years with dogs and cats in bed with me not a one has ever wanted to mess with the hose and I don't use a hose cozy (haven't for 3 years since I bought a heated hose). The only victim has been a nasal pillow that fell off the counter and the dog found and thought it was rubber chew toy. Current kitty is a Bengal with a huge attitude and she could care less about the hose or mask. Never bothers it during the day or the night. She has more fun with the little strip of plastic that comes off the gallon of distilled water when I undo the lid.tlcares wrote:i will be a new CPAP user tonight. Padacheeks makes the densest fleece hose cover which would offer the greatest protection should a pet decide to play with the hose. Remarkably lightweight though.

I got mine on Ebay. Nice fleece fabric... homemade and well made. Easy enough to get on and off. It was cheap too!

The folks at Snugglehose also make nice fleece covers and they offer zippered ones
