"Card error, please remove sd and contact provider"

Post by king_alvaro » Sun Jun 17, 2012 12:41 pm

I get this message every time I insert the an SD card to my resmed S9 machine. I tried turning it off and on, it doesn't work. Then I tried changing SD cards, it gives me the same message. My machine has about 400 hours of usage. I was able to retrieve the data 2 previous times but now this time it wont let me. Has anyone experience a similar problem?

If you have not done so already, try the following: disconnect the machine from power, count up to 10, and connect it again.

Also, check that both the old and the new SD card are unlocked.

I tried powering it off and waited a minute and then powering it on and it is the same message. Also it is unlocked.

Make arrangements to contact whomever supplied your machine to you. Sounds like something in the machine may be messed up if new card doesn't help and powering off the machine and subsequent reboot doesn't help and the fact that it happened before but seemed to be okay and now messed up again.

Unless someone can come up with another idea to try. You have already tried all that I would know to try which is a different SD card and the reboot.

By "power off", do you mean "unplug?" Pull the power cord from the back of the machine and leave it disconnected for at least a minute or so.

It might not work, but it's worth trying.

The provider manual says the card may not be inserted correctly or you may have removed the card before the settings have been copied.

It says to be sure the card is inserted correctly, then to reinsert the card and wait for home screen or the "settings updated" message to appear.

Put the card in and wait for several minutes. I've heard some people say the S9 is slow reading and writing to the card sometimes.

When you get this message, and if unplugging the machine for a minute does not cure it, then there is something oddball with the card, or the machine is haywire. If you had the card in your computer it may have had some extra file written to it. I understand Macs will do this. Some other programs will also. Take another SD card and put it in the machine and let it format it. Then compare the files on that card with the the problem card. If there are any files on the problem card that are not on the newly formatted card, then delete them. I'm referring to names of files, not the number of files. You should see the differences in the root folder only. The safest thing to do when downloading the card is lock it before putting it into your computer's card reader.

FYI, the S9 is extremely picky about the SD card that is in it. It must be formatted by the S9 or the S9 will NOT use it. It also CANNOT have any extra files on it that the S9 did not put on it.

If you don't find anything odd on the card you have no choice but to let the S9 reformat it. If you keep getting the message, and you know the card is good, then the S9 might actually have a real problem. I had that error come up a few weeks ago but the card was bad. Windows couldn't even do a full reformat of it.

How would you let the machine format the SD card? It won't do a thing with it. The card must be removed or nothing happens. Also, I don't see a "format" option anywhere in the menus.

My machine displayed the same message yesterday
I took the card out, locked and unlocked the card couple of times, blew at the card metal contacts and insert the card back into the machine .....S9 read the card and all is good
