klonopin or trazodone?

Post by sickwithapnea17 » Fri Jun 22, 2012 12:04 am

Does klonopin prevent deep sleep? It seems to be the best sleep aid I've taken compared to ambien or trazodone. but I don't feel really rested on it and I've read one doc says it prevents deep sleep- I don't wake up with fog on it though.
I had a terrible night on trazodone waking up with terrible fog and exhaustion.

I have dust mite allergies and maybe wheat/gluten allergy and celiac disease so maybe that is ruining my life

Im highly biased, but clanazepam has been nothing short of a miracle drug in my life. It makes me functional when i have bad apneas (despite good AHI numbers).

It never gives me a buzz---it simply soothes out my central nervous system, and i cant give you a scientific run down on why.

It was developed as an anti hystemine. Most MD's think its just an anxiety medication because theyre ignorant of its history.

It is also used to prevent seizures.

I use it as needed -from one pill a day to up to four.

It also helps me be able to exert myself when i walk for an hour at a slow pace. Weight loss and all that.

Apnea completely changed my CNS and klonapin and cpap are the only two weapons ive developed so far against it.

And its perceptive of you to make an integrative correlation with immune diseases and apnea. This is just now making headway in major
scientific thinktanks such as AMA.

As an aside, avoid eating after six or seven pm. The less work your digeston system is doing when you hit the sack the better. And be careful about mixing
medications or using any alcohol with klonapin. Bad idea. Use the smallest dosage possible to receieve the same results.

You might get by on half a pill before bedtime. Excercise at a moderate level like walking in the cool of the evening ( i try to walk an hour a day six days a week) is a huge stress reliever and will help you fall right to sleep. Good luck.

Can't help you on the drugs but I am surprised you have problems with dust mite allergies. I am also allergic but as soon as I started using CPAP the problem went away.

The mites (or more technically their dried doo-doo) are in the sheets and now all my air is being filtered on the nightstand and delivered mite doo-doo free.

The OP has been on the forum for months, asking the same questions over and over again, NEVER taking any advice given, getting angry, accusing people of not helping, disappears, reinvents themselves under a new name, starts over, and on and on it goes. Those familiar with the OP are tired of dealing with it.

Edited to add: Not to mention OP has deleted posts that call him/her out on this behavior.

If anyone can figure out where he's getting all these drugs from, please let me know! I'm sure he's not legit!

I've been on Klonopin for years. As I got accustomed to it, my doc kept increasing it. Until a few weeks ago I was taking 4 mg 1 hour before bedtime. This was to help settle my racing mind and let me "prepare" for sleep. My doc had increased it to 4 mg because at a higher dose it can work as a muscle relaxant (which I needed for severe spinal stenosis). To make a long story short, Klonopin has a half-life of 40 hours! That means it is in your system all day the next day and can cause a "hangover" effect in some people. I never felt that.

However, when my doc heard I had severe sleep apnea she immediately started titrating me off of it completely. She said it definately can make sleep apnea worse as it affects your respiratory system. I am down to 1 mg per night and I have had no adverse side effects.

Probably for the untreated, but I wonder if it is true for someone using CPAP and paying attention to their efficacy data?
