Grossan Breathe-ease Nasal Moisturizing Gel

Post by roster » Sun Mar 26, 2006 5:36 pm

Does anyone use this product for nasal irritation? I notice it says for cpap/oxygen users, so I would assume it does not contain petroleum-derived products which would damage the silicone in mask parts.

I am also trying to find a good product for nasal irritation which does not contain salt like Ayr gel and others do. Does the Grossan product contain salt?

I am using Swift Mirage nasal pillows successfully for two month but during the third month I have developed nasal irritation. I have used Ayr gel the last two weeks without improvement.

well, rooster, there is a conflict here. i don't know about your grossan gel. i would check the website and/or package ingredients list.

but, according to the swift instruction booklet, you're already screwed, as are many of us.

"Do not use solutions containing bleach, chlorine, alcohol, aromatics, moisturizers, antibacterial agents, or scented oils to clean any part of the system or air tubing. These solutions may cause damage and reduce the life of the product."

That means ayr gel and petroleum jelly.

My question is: why do people seem to think that petroleum jelly is worse than ayr gel for silicone, which btw, resmed doesn't say Swift is made of? petroleum jelly can damage latex, but i was not aware of damage to silicone.

rooster:

thanks for the silicone confirmation. i believe we have at least two issues here: 1) the best in-the-nose moisturizer to relieve the pain, which i believe comes from cpap/swift drying out your nostrils; 2)what will damage your swift the least. although the booklet warning refers to cleaning, i think they mean that contact with those substances may damage your swift. (btw, they also tell you that leaving your cpap/swift running while not using it is a fire hazard because of the danger of oxygyn build-up in the hose.)
