ResMed S9 AutoSet. How do I change the settings?
ResMed S9 AutoSet. How do I change the settings?
I just got a machine for the first time on Friday, July 27th and I was told it's an auto adjust machine except mine was set to a standard 13. I honestly feel like I need more pressure being that the study I had wasn't extensive because I had trouble sleeping. How do I change the setting on my machine so it could be automatic? Also, is it a good idea to take sleeping pills to sleep with this machine on me because I'm having trouble getting used to my nasal mask. Help!

May be or may be not you need more pressure but try to use the machine some time or for a short nap during the day.
I would not suggest taking sleeping tablets while using CPAP, just like alcohol makes apnea worse.
It wouldn't hurt to try auto and see if you like or giving you better treatment. Some people do better with CPAP and some do better with APAP
If you,re going to try auto get the software ResScan or SleeyHead software so you can see what pressure the machine used through the night and adjust accordingly

Re: ResMed S9 AutoSet. How do I change the settings?
Keyrrie, Welcome to the forum!
sol sent you a link to a good site. The 'Push Dial' is the silver raised button to the right of the screen on your S9. After you are in the Clinican's Menu you will find CPAP at the top of the list. Pushing in the dial will turn that item orange. Then you can use the dial to select Auto. (It's ResMed's version of a drop down menu for each heading.) Then push in on the dial to 'enter' the change. The background will become blue/green again.
I'm not sure of the following... You may have to make these changes AFTER removing the SD card from the back of the machine. If the sd card is in the machine while you do this, your changes may not be saved by the S9 to the card. And the next time you use the S9 it may revert to the old setting, not what you put in. The best thing is to remove the sd card first, change the settings in the S9 and then put the card back in. The machine will download your new settings to the card and you will be all set.
Best wishes,
Cindy

Re: ResMed S9 AutoSet. How do I change the settings?
The machine in your profile is an S9 Elite, which is not an apap. If you actually have an Autoset (it would be written on top of the machine), you have selected the wrong machine in your profile.
I would not bother taking out the sd card. If the DME programmed the cpap setting of 13 to the card, it will reset your machine to that setting when you insert the card. Better to leave the card in and see what happens when you make the change. If the DME programmed your machine manually and not through the Resmed software then the card will be fine.

How do I find the clinicians menu on this Sp autoset?
Re: ResMed S9 AutoSet. How do I change the settings?
Probably should check with your sleep Dr first. Changing settings can be tricky business

Sol provided a link to the instructions already. Second post from the top.SDR wrote:How do I find the clinicians menu on this Sp autoset?
Someone requesting how to get to the menu might be wanting to do something as simple as turning on Sleep Quality so they they get full data available to them if the machine is a full data machine or changing a mask setting which changing mask types or changing the clock or turning EPR on or changing ramp time....all things that are not considered something that a patient shouldn't ever mess with.Sclark08 wrote:Probably should check with your sleep Dr first. Maybe someone is already on cpap therapy and had to buy a second machine privately and got the S9 and needs to set the pressures to what they are already using.
Lots of reasons for wanting to go into the menu. I figured if they are smart enough to figure out that there is a clinical menu and they want access to it...my job is to help answer the question as to how can someone get to it. I don't automatically assume that they are on a dial a winging mission and not want to help....and the link is in Sol's post...I didn't even have to go look for it.

On my resmed s9 vpap auto you just turn it on and the press the info button and you get a sleep quality report. Don't have to get into clinician settings

the availability of that depends on settings in the clinician menu.Sclark08 wrote:On my resmed s9 vpap auto you just turn it on and the press the info button and you get a sleep quality report. Don't have to get into clinician settings

Re: ResMed S9 AutoSet. How do I change the settings?
You can't see anything under sleep quality reporting on your machine unless a setting in the clinical setup menu is changed from what the default from factory setting is and most DMEs don't change it.
The default is usage and without it being set to On...you get hours of use only...no AHI...no leak....no nothing on software reports beyond summary use data.
