What About the Z-Quiet Anti-Snoring Device?

Post by BigLou » Mon Sep 03, 2012 9:44 pm

Just saw a TV advertorial on this device. Simple appearing oral plastic appliance. If this stops snoring, will it necessarily splint the airway open enough to eliminate or at least significantly reduce OSA? Thoughts, experiences? Thanks.

NO! For some small number of people it will stop the snoring. That is it.

I used one for a while. It did stop the snoring. I used it before I had a sleep study. I quit because it made my mouth sore. Have friends that used it and had good success with the snoring but cant honestly address the apneas.

I tried a similar mouth guard. For me, it slightly reduced the noise volume of my snoring, but did not appear to change my apneas (this was before I had a CPAP machine), nor did it change the scary pattern of O2 loss based on my pulse oximeter. It also made the inside of my mouth sore, but perhaps, if it had worked, I would have worn it longer than a week, and my mouth might have toughened up. It might work for others.
