Dizzy when I wake up and disoriented

Post by gmdaneker » Wed Sep 05, 2012 8:41 pm

I have used the resmed S9 Auto CPAP and have been using it for 8 months now with no problems or side effects until this week. I have recently been waking up very disoriented and dizzy. It lasted only a few hours the first time, but is lasting all day now since about a week. Does anyone know if it is the pressure or what? I am using tap water in a different area of the country since the 1st of August. Will that really make that big of a difference? It is really concerning me. I previously used filtered tap water. A person could conclude that it is an inner ear issue, but how could it be related to the CPAP machine? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I recently lost my insurance or I would just call a doctor. I might have to anyway.

see a doc if you can. this may have nothing to do with cpap and certainly has nothing to do with water.

See a doctor immediately; CPAP may reduce your chances of having a stroke,
or other problem with similar symptoms; but it will not prevent them entirely.

It's quite possible you've inadvertently allowed the vents to be covered by bedding and have been rebreathing CO2 - that'll disorient you if anything will (and it's certainly not otherwise good for you either).

This above is your machine and not the S9 Autoset. Just a minor technical detail but different machines.

There are many causes for vertigo and it would be unlikely that the pressures are the cause after this much time on the machine but not totally impossible.

You can google the possible causes for dizziness and vertigo but it is impossible for us to offer anything but some possible causes and the best thing to do is be seen by a physician.
