Scratch the 'frequently'.
Results may not be immediate or all at once.

Well it depends.
If the only reason you are needing to get up in the night to pee is of the sleep apnea events causing the heart to secrete the stress hormone Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) then optimal CPAP therapy should reduce or eliminate the need for frequent urination during the night.
If you have other reasons for frequent urination (and there are a whole bunch of them) then CPAP therapy may not help.

In my case it did. I used to get up just about every hour on the hour with a full bladder before cpap. My first sign that the therapy was working was I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night at all.

Frequent urination during the day is not a side effect from sleep apnea so you may have other issues going on that need to be evaluated.

Same here. I thought it was "old man's disease" though the doc said he saw (OK, felt) no sign of BHP. I still had to get up 2-3 times/night.
That abruptly ended the first night I slept with CPAP and has continued over 2 years. Pugsy's explanation is the same one I've heard from several sources.

But if your nocturnal wanderings to the other room are actually caused by prostatic enlargement, CPAP will help, but won't completely quell your need.

I always wake up to go pee during the night. 2-3 times on average. Did a CPAP machine cure this?

It cured me. Before cpap 3-4 times in 6.5 hrs. After cpap 0-1 times. Usually 0.

Others signs and symptoms of sleep apnea include:

Morning headaches: Could be caused by apnea... but a bunch of stuff can cause headaches...
-Memory or learning problems and not being able to concentrate.. Yes... successful apnea treatment helped me in this area...

-Feeling irritable, depressed, or having mood swings or personality changes Apnea can cause this... so can women.. -

Waking up frequently to urinate
... should stop when apnea is properly treated...

-Dry mouth or sore throat when you wake up
Usually caused by mouth breathing. Mouth breathing is ok with a hybrid, full face and total face masks, but not nasals...

I am a newbie. I judge the success of the night's VPAP therapy by the fact I didn't get up to urinate till 4AM- and felt like I was ready to get up for the day.

Before CPAP I got up every hour. After CPAP I get up only if one of the dogs has to go potty. Without dogs, I never get up.

prior to CPAP - I was woken by an urgent need to pee once a night

After CPAP -- had not needed to get up to pee once.

Yep, it's true. I never would have believed it if I hadn't experienced it myself.

I used to get up 5-6 times a night. Now there are some nights I stay asleep the whole night. Occasionally I need to get up once, before morning. Not too shabby.

It appears we produce more urine when we are awake (or segmented sleep awakened) - so staying asleep, through good CPAP therapy, is a good thang in this respect.

"Did a CPAP machine cure this?"

That's a good question. In this case, is CPAP a "cure" for frequent bathroom trips or just a "treatment?"

Limit the amount of liquid before you go to bed, found out that this does wonders on the amount of trips to the restroom during the night. Use to go numerous times before CPAP, but has gone down to just once a night now. Could be a habit that when you feel pressure you think that you need to get up and go, but if you limit the liquid input before you go to bed , maybe you would cut down on the trips.

Still waking up for the bathroom every 1-3 hours. Have been on cpap a couple months now. I don't drink a lot of fluid at night and I have no medical condition that would cause this. I'm hoping I just need more time to adjust, although I am losing hope as so many of you report that nocturia is the first thing cured with cpap.

Are you sure? Urine production while you're sleeping is an indication of some sort of stress. It could be that your sleep is so fragmented you're not asleep long enough for ANP to be suppressed. And it could be you have high blood pressure and/or electrolytes out of whack and you're unaware of it. It's worth getting checked out.

Pre-CPAP I went from 3-4 trips a night (I'm male, 65yrs). Now it's one trip a night to the bathroom, post-CPAP. I don't really have a reason to put forward, however I suspect it's because I'm sleeping more deeply, not just bouncing around on the edge of sleep.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Blood pressure is 123/77 (Pre CPAP it was 140/90). I have had every test run and the only thing wrong is too much protein in my urine. That has improved since starting CPAP but I still have some. I even had an ultrasound and Ct Scan of my kidneys and they are fine. I would give anything to sleep through the night just once. I don't know much about ANP production, but I do know my sleep is horribly fragmented and I don't know why or how to fix.
