I need to set a Tmax and Tmin on this vpap machine
this is the length of time that it allows you to inhale - any suggestions for a good default to set them at - i have the results of my sleep test for number of breaths per min. Should i use that to try to figure out the range?

Re: I need to set a Tmax and Tmin on this vpap machine
I assume from your question you are using a ResMed S9 VPAP despite what machine is listed for you.
According to the clinician manual, the main purpose for the Ti setting is that it "ensures synchronization even in the presence of significant mouth and/or mask leak." So if you don't have trouble with large leaks, you don't have to get the range all that exact.
The settings define the timing of when the machine will try to sense your breathing out; that way it can know when to cycle from IPAP pressure to EPAP pressure.
I left Ti Min at the default, but I found the default Ti Max (2.0 I think) to be too short for me at times. I set Ti Max at 3 or 3.5, even though it wouldn't need to be that long according to the charts based on my breaths per minute. That way I make sure the machine doesn't drop pressure prematurely during my breathing in, which I find to be very uncomfortable, and which will occasionally happen if Ti Max is set too short.
