Best Chinstrap?
I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion of the best chinstrap available. I"m using one that is basicallly a strip of neoprene with velcro on the end with a smaller strip going around the back that I got from my DME. My issue is it's severly irritating my chin. I've got a giant red welt that I am afraid is going to break open. I tried just loosening the strap but then i leaked air out my mouth. Last night I tried adding some fleece to the chin area and that helped a little bit. I'm more than willing to buy a new strap or make one, but just would like some input on what kind is best.
Thanks,
Sarah
Thanks,
Sarah

The only way to find is to try them on yourself. I have about 5 different styles. I found that the Respironics Premium is the one I liked the most and its the one you're griping about

Re: Best Chinstrap?
Sometimes, the home-made ones are best.
Ace bandage, elastic headbands, and even underwear elastic have been used.

It's a personal preference.I like the Adjustable Ruby.my second choice would be the Respironics Deluxe strap. You just have to try for yourself.Everyone will say something different
Re: Best Chinstrap?
So far, I like the non-adjustable Large Ruby best.
I tried the Adjustable Ruby and it was very uncomfortable no matter how I adjusted it.
I tried the Medium Ruby and it kept my mouth snugly shut but made a deep crease across the top of my head.
I am referring to the Puresom Ruby. There are other chinstraps which are called "Ruby" but are not the same.

Re: Best Chinstrap?
my 0.02 cents is the pap-cap. its a little different, but floats my boat, with the big headgear (sort of like a hat) I don't feel the pressure.

Re: Best Chinstrap?
I've tried two of the adjustable kind, but much prefer a non adjustable one that I haven't seen anyone else mention. It's MySnoringSolution. Kind of expensive at about $100, though they offer 2-for-1 specials. It's quite comfortable (for me) and easy to slip on. One problem I do have is that it stretches to a loose fit after about a month. Fairly easily fixed by sewing in a tuck.

Re: Best Chinstrap?
I had a problem with chin straps swallowing my face, way too large. What finally worked for me was a woman's stretchy elastic belt, 2 inches wide, the kind with a metal loop on the end. I just shortened it. They come in a ton of colors.

Most chinstraps are made of stretchy material ... bad design.
Just think about it. Almost all chinstraps for helmets use non-stretchy materials like leather or nylon webbing to keep the helmet firmly in place.
The PapCap is like wearing a soft cotton helmet that keeps you chin firmly in place. And it's not just for nasal pillow users. Keeping your chin firmly in place helps keep a FF mask's lower straps from jacking your lower jaw open and back towards your throat, exacerbating apneas. And finally, the PapCap can be used as a stable platform for mask headgear that slips and slides due to slick hair or slick bald head.
Been using my PapCap since Bret first came out with it. Mine is pretty worn out now and I probably should get myself a new one.
