Sleepio for Insomnia
Anyone tried Sleepio, the internet insomnia program? Any comments? I had a sleep doctor recommend it once.

I have not had experience with the site but it seems it is a form of CBT for insomnia. In my opinion, you would have to ask yourself if this is the right treatment for your situation. What type of sleep difficulties are you having?

I just went to a Sleep Doc yesterday who also recommended this online program. It seems pretty intuitive. Has anyone on here used it and have any feedback regarding it?

I tried it, before I found out I have sleep apnea. The nice thing about the program is that there's an online forum so users can support each other and answer any questions new users might have, much like here on CPAPTalk.
Sleepio is essentially a six-week program that teaches you about good sleep hygiene habits and the principles of CBT-I. You'll be asked to track how much you're actually sleeping during the first week or two, and once you've figured out that average you'll be asked to only sleep that many hours each night (so if you're only sleeping 6 hours, you'll spend that much time in bed, as opposed to sleeping 6 hours and spending 8 hours in bed).*
Each week, you'll learn something new about managing your insomnia, and the program will ask you to set goals based on that week's lesson. Your "guide' through this program is a little animated man named The Prof, who has a very soothing Scottish accent.
I am not sure how much it helped me, because I was never able to successfully do the sleep restriction part. I would always take a nap or something when I wasn't supposed to. I got so desperate that I finally made an appointment with the sleep center, which led to me discovering I have SA. Between that time and when I got my CPAP, I was actually sleeping much better. But now that I'm trying the CPAP, it seems the insomnia is back
But if you have any more questions about the program, I'm more than happy to answer them!
EDITED TO ADD: *If your sleep efficiency (Time Asleep, divided by Time in Bed) for the week is 90% or higher, you'll be allowed to add 15 minutes to your total sleep time. I think this only happened for me like once during the program lol.

Thanks very much for your input. The concept sounds interesting and if it can help me get to sleep and stay asleep while still acclimating to the mask I think I'm going to give it a shot. $10/week from the comfort of one's home sure beats going to see a live therapist. Thanks again.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
