Cotton Pad a Cheek - a WINNER!

Post by sleepyred » Sun Apr 23, 2006 6:29 pm

Sleepyred here.

I also received my sample pad-a-cheek cotton pads in the mail on Saturday. I was impressed by the fast shipping of the item. The kind note and instructions were very nice.

My overall impressions of the pads are excellent. I have used 3 masks and am back using my favorite, the Mirage Activa. My main complaint of the mask was the marks left on my cheeks by the neoprene straps. I woke up this morning with no marks after using the pad-a-cheek cotton pads! The material is very good and they are quite sturdy, yet so comfy against ones face. They were very easy to put onto my straps with the neat tool sent for just that purpose.

I give this product a perfect 10! The pads are washable and I see no problems given the high quality of the sewing of the pads. It has solved my major complaint of the Activa mask and I highly recommend this product to my friends who use cpaps and to those on this forum!

Thanks for a wonderful product. I will definitely order the fleece ones for the winter!

Summer fabric

One very important aspect of the pad-a-cheek - the material is summer weight cotton over a very soft fleece and will be very cool in the heat of the south for me! One more reason I love this product!

i have very dry, sensitive skin, so please understand that's where i'm coming from; my skin is so dry that i cannot wash it, even with olive oil soap, and not use a moisturizer. this is polished cotton, which irritates my skin, even though i understand it's 100 percent cotton. just putting it on my cheek feels scratchy. i don't think i could handle a night with these, although i'm willing to try. i already own the fleece kind and they are comfortable even though polyester. i think i would need a softer, smoother, non-treated cotton. i'm also not sure these would be cooler in summer than fleece because these are padded with the fleece, but it might be better psychologically. i guess i was hoping it would be a softer cotton with no fleece. but i recognize most people don't have dry, sensitive skin.

Caroline, talk to Karen (Padacheek). She's great at coming up with solutions. She's sending me a pad for the back of my neck where I have those stupid sores from my headgear.......

thanks. yes, i know i could ask karen to come up with a better cotton for me. but i'm so far happy with the fleece. i just meant that if she is trying to market a cotton for everyone, this is not it. but i recognize this may be good for most people. so it depends--does she want a cotton that works for everyone, or just most people? if it's most people, this is probably fine.

I understand you completely! I have dry skin and Rosacea. I can break out by looking at a new laundry soap! Dermatologists have given me creams that break me out. Moisturizer can break me out as well! I have to wash everything before I use or wear it. The only remedy which helps my face skin is this (which was given to me by a dermatologist). 1/2 cold water, 1/2 lowfat or skim milk, and ice cubes. Dip a wash cloth in it and hold it up to your face.

So far, no problems with the pad-a-cheek pads. But we are all different! I'm sure Karen would work with you. Or if the other ones are working - hey if they aren't broken - "don't' fix 'em"!

I think she was experimenting with a summer weight material. If you have a pillow case which works well for you, you can see what that is made out of and that might be the material to use. Just a thought.

Hope this helps!

guys--

karen emailed me and suggested that i wash the padacheeks because she says the cotton will get softer after washing. anyway, i broke down and put moisturizer on my face last nite because i am sick of going to bed with stretched tight skin to save my mask. i think i will risk my mask from now on in. the pads felt ok with the moisturizer on, although i was wearing activa and that's a loosely worn mask. i woke up a lot during the night but don't know if that was because of the pads. but i will try washing the pads. anyway, one issue that i found was that these don't go on as easily as the fleece ones, and the stitching on mine is coming undone because of the pull on the ends. not badly but more than it should after one wearing, and it is visible. maybe they should be a tad wider to accommodate this. also, i'm pretty techno challenged, so diagrams with the hook and all would help. didn't matter with the fleece, but i was pushing pretty hard to get these on, since i didn't really understand the explanation. but yes, washing the pads ought to help my poor dry skin. sleepyred, roseasea, that's really something! that can't be fun.

Hey Everyone....
Recieved my cotten Pad a cheek covers Saturday, and
wanted to give my review after I had a couple of nights
with them....I love them...they are sewn very well, no loose
threads, they went on flawlessly without the tool...I love
the material they are made out of, very soft feel on my
face. They don't bunch up, they stay in one place all night
long and NO TRAIN TRACKS ON MY CHEEKS....Yea....
Thank you Karen for another great product and letting me
try them, I am so glad I got the opportunity to do so...
A 10 all the way...

Add my score of "10"

Post by ProfessorSleep » Sun Apr 30, 2006 1:29 pm

Hello, everyone - I've given my cotton padacheeks a thorough test for the past week and agree with the "10" (out of 10) score. At first I thought they'd never compare to the soft fleece ones that have been my salvation since I started with all this CPAP stuff. I couldn't imagine that anything could compare, much less top those. Well, not that the fleece ones aren't darn near a 10 also, but I do think I like the cotton a little better in some respects. It does seem to have a little more cushion, due to the cotton over the fleece adding another, yet thin, layer between cheek and strap. It seems a little cooler, also, although where I am that won't get a real test until months from now! I thought I would go through withdrawal from the fleece ones but, heck, this new version is very, very nice - I think I actually prefer the cotton with its silky cover. Both have truly changed my experience with the Swift and my comfort level with any mask. Thanks, Karen!!
